‘We Misled You’: How the Saudis Are Coming Clean on Funding Terrorism

Hindutva extremists ???

You are comparing Hindutva extremists which are a local problem in India with Islamic extremism which is a global problem ? Which Hindutva organisation is designated as a terrorist organisation by the UN ? Which Hindutva organisation can be compared to the like of ISIS, AL Qaeda etc. ?

Please dont make such a crappy comparison just for the sake of it Maulana ji.
Hinduvta extremists are going to be the terrorists for the muslims of India... no binds nation around the world except India... and none with oil under their feet... not the same...

.
You guys are playing the same game with the hinduvta extremists... the only difference is you guys are a couple decades behind the wahabbis from Saudis...

So don't be gleaming too bright ... Patelji.

Nah... Saudis are too stupid and too much of American bum chums to do 9/11... that's your Israeli freinds you should be looking at... they were also the ones who made sure building seven also came down... Stein had to get his shekels... that's why he made the decision to "pull it"

Osama Bin Laden according what i've heard, was raised in Saudi Arabia, then fought on the US' side in Afghanistan, and at some point 'made the huge mistake' (that's what *i* call it, others might say 'had the courage'), to organize the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center in the USA and on other targets in the USA with more than 2 commercial airliner jets.

The fact that Osama Bin Laden was raised as a Saudi citizen (or even some form of Princehood / Saudi Arabian nobility class), does NOT, i repeat : NOT, make all Saudi Arabians or even the Saudi Arabian leadership(s), in any way responsible for the actions of the individual Osama Bin Laden.
We are all responsible for our own actions, and while yes, there is a grey area called 'aiding and sheltering' terrorists, the proverb 'one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter' has to be taken into account. Meaning : the Pakistani government should in my opinion not lose anyone's support for giving Osama Bin Laden a home where he could advise the next generation of muslim fighters (who are still too much stuck on the terrorism line of thinking in my humble opinion)..
Osama Bin Laden was given a sea burial to prevent him becoming a marter and inspiration for lots more suffering of (relatively) innocent people(s).

All groups with larger ambitions than running a village or a city, all groups that want to govern a country or much larger piece of land than their ancestors controlled, are a potential source of violent struggle, of trying to become rulers of large pieces of land by violent means (a.k.a. terrorism).

none of this is unknown to USA... and even usa are willing participants in this... did not the coalition give weapons to people who later turned into ISIS? why single out saudis....

so true. yesterday's ally can be today's or next week's mortal enemy.
that is the side-effect, the other side of the coin, of using the proverb 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend'.
and i'm not against that proverb continuing to be used.

@peacefan: You might also be interested in this declassified 1967 CIA memorandum: link.. Apparently the Egyptians lost control of the terror groups they sponsored in civil war Yemen, the Saudis were in trouble, and the Brits had their fingers deep in the pie.

I've just now read it..
Can anyone tell me please if this conflict between 'the west' and 'the middle east' goes back as far as the aftermath days of World War 2?.. Or even World War 1?.. When did the inter-Arab element start? Was it when oil was first discovered and used to power vehicles?.. Don't hold back, i'm very interested in history and witness statements of historic events anywhere.

It should be noted that the opinion of the State Dept. at the time was that terrorism in the region (Yemen, Saudi Arabia) was sponsored by Nasser.

The bigger question is how naive can the State Dept. be! Not the last time that the State Dept. has been led by their noses.

In stead of playing one enemy against another (Iran & Iraq), Bush Jr. not only did Iran's bidding by removing Saddam from power at a great great cost to his country, but also appointed Al Maliki, a known Iranian agent, as the head of the newly liberated Iraq! I believe Iranians couldn't believe their eyes and laughed their as*es off when that thing was unfolding.

US spent and continues to spend enormous political and fiscal capital, trying to denuclearize North Korea/Iran/Libya, but lets Pakistan get away with just a slap on the wrists for proliferating the whole fu<king thing in the first place?

Ditto with war on terror and Pakistan. Pakistan, not only got rewarded with tens of Billions of dollars for its double cross, but also prolonged the hugely costly US presence in Afghanistan by hiding fu<king Laden in their own country for close to a DECADE. Talk of running with the hare & hunting with the hounds!

When State Dept. makes blunders like this, not only does US pay the price, sadly it is also the countries like India that have to pay the price - be it nuclearization of Pakistan which further emboldened cross-border terrorism by Pakistan or Saudi-funded extremism.
