NEW DELHI: India has protested to China over a China-Pakistan highway, saying the Karakoram transit passes through a part of territory in Jammu and Kashmir which is ‘illegally occupied’ by Pakistan, Indian Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna told parliament on Thursday.

“India has clearly conveyed to China its consistent position that Pakistan was in illegal occupation of parts of Jammu and Kashmir since 1947 following reports that China was building a rail line and highway in ***************** Kashmir,” the United News of India quoted Mr Krishna as telling the Rajya Sabha.

Mr Krishna’s written statement came in response to questions by deputies. He said that India had conveyed its concern to China and asked it to cease such activities.

China was regarding Kashmir as a bilateral matter to be settled between India and Pakistan, Mr Krishna said while answering the questions.

He said the government had seen reports to the effect that China was seeking to build a railway line and highway projects in ***, New Delhi’s name for Azad Kashmir, and it had taken up the issue with them.

The government would keep a constant vigil on all developments having a bearing on India’s national interest and take all necessary measures to safeguard it, UNI quoted the minister as saying.

Answering a related question, Mr Krishna said India had taken up the reports of China building a dam on the upper reaches of Tsangpo/ Brahmaputra, known as Tsangpo in Tibet, with China during his visit to Beijing in April.

China had conveyed that it always had shown a responsible attitude towards trans-border rivers. The Chinese foreign minister had also clarified that the planned construction at Zangmu was that of a small power project and it would not store water or regulate the volume of water.

It, therefore, would not have any adverse impact on downstream flows, he added.

Mr Krishna said the two countries had established an expert-level mechanism to discuss cooperation on all issues regarding trans-bor-der rivers and it had held four meetings between September 2007 and April 2010.

As if we care:rolleyes:

:pakistan::china:

I will just say well done Krishna. It is unfortunate that it has come to this . This may not have an effect on China or Pakistan but it is good that a protest is registered.

look who's talking.. HAHAHAHAH ! "India has problems"? Okay SO? When did India not had them?

By the way, making a road or railway track should be welcomed by India. I hope thats a "positive development" as when India would have whole Kashmir on its side, the roads and railway links to China will always be laid. Therefore India should rather thank Pakistan for doing all that development. Ya? :woot:

LOL Like we give a SHYT!

and SOMEBOZO ur comment is way cooler then mine.... HAHAHAHA

Ha, Ha, Ha, classic case of burning rectum. As if China or somebody else care. They have been crying enough to USA for almost everything and all issues have been brushed under carpet. So what is next? Begging to China?? Looks like an emergency meeting of Lok Subha was called to invent new issues. The bigoted indian politicians have no intrests other than their own supermacy because these sole civilian developments will bring prosperity to most improvised people in asia.

Under india's supermacist vision soon Punjab and Sindh will also become "illegaly occupied" territories and they will have unexplained pains in stomach to merge KP with Afghanistan. We should consider such remarks as acts of desperation on face of their rapidly failing mis-adventure into Afghanistan.

Pakistan should speed up its donation of redchilli supositries for Indian politicians. SM Krishna has shown a lot of appreciation for Pakistani redchilli supositries sampled to him during peace talks. He said nothing has relived me in years like these supositiries.

Pak dismisses India's concern over Pak-China rail link in ***

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan today dismissed India's concern over a proposed Pakistan-China rail link through the disputed Gilgit-Baltistan region in ***, saying New Delhi has "no locus standi" in the matter.

Abdul Basit, the Pakistani foreign office spokesman, dismissed India's objections to the Pakistan-China proposed rail link through the disputed Gilgit-Baltistan region in the Karakoram ranges.

Amid concerns voiced by India over the rail link through the disputed *****************-Kashmir (***), he told a weekly news briefing here that New Delhi has "no locus standi" in the matter and that its objections are "uncalled for and irrelevant".

The rail link is a matter of concern to India as it passes through some of the disputed areas forming part of ***.

According to experts, the rail link is part of plan by China to encircle India through cooperation with its "all weather" strategic partner.

India's external affairs minister SM Krishna said in New Delhi that "we are closely watching what is happening".

Earlier, minister of state for defence MM Pallam Raju said the rail link is definitely a matter of concern.

"But we are taking our counter measures and we are doing our own preparation," Raju said.

According to earlier reports, Pakistan had awarded a $1.2 million contract to an international consortium to conduct a feasibility study for the 750-km rail line in 2007.

As per the past proposal, China would lay the track up to Khujerab.

Ol now when even india complsins iam going to say ( sniff sniff i smell burning RECTUM) LOL

It isn't India that has a problem with the road and rail link with China - I would look to the recent statements of Adm. Mullen while in India - Adm Mullen has a new job Indian "diplomacy" with the assurance that US will stand behind India should a "crisis" with China arise.
