PTI New Delhi, January 15, 2013 | UPDATED 17:25 IST
Army chief Gen Bikram Singh on Tuesday asserted that the Indian Army is prepared to face all challenges to national security and foil the designs of the enemy against the backdrop of nationwide anger over the beheading of a soldier by Pakistani troops on the Line of Control between the two countries.

Addressing the 65th Army Day parade in New Delhi, the Army chief also flagged the issue of human rights saying Indian Army's record is the best in the world as far as human rights is concerned.

Noting that the Indian Army personnel work in tough terrain like Siachen, Singh said they discharge their duties in those areas while "following the principles of war and human rights".

fodder for the locals. Nothing new. ignore it everyone.

The army has huge gaps in critical areas such as:

Artillery
AA defense
Infantry

Talk wont solve these problems. Action will.

easier said then done, an aircraft at most is about 100 in the first go around. An army will equip over a million.

Then there is production, distribution, funds, reliability, compatibility and all that.

Funds is the most important, you got to remember that most funds for the army go to wages, daily essentials, exercises, and all kind of things before new gear.

America spends hundreds of billions just to keep the army at current standard, and their army is smaller than both of ours.

So, probably no big change until more funds are freed up.
