i believe "mullah" or "maulana" means teacher... though especially in the last 100 years it has come to mean a anti-progress anti-justice backward person who doesn't know that islam came about to bring justice and remove complications from life... remove complications and not add to them and certainly not to create a opppresive enviroment.

your mention of the beating of taslima is apt... the attackers would not have even read her book and yet they reacted without thinking... which is why such people are called reactionaries.

Yes this is the limitation of that blog.But if sexist,racist,fundamentalist,propagandist,anti-liberation and pornographic post are allowed to that blog freely,then the islamic militant group will hijack that blog and overwhelm them with unnecessary and pornographic post.You have to remember that they are a small group of writer and fundamentalist are many times powerful and dedicated to kill or silence their critics.So if they given free access,they will hijack that site within no times.Then the reason of this blog will be pointless and anarchy will prevail.

The anti-mukto-mona people can start their own blog and criticize the activities in their own website.That will ensure the free speech.Free speech doesn't require every platform of opposing view to become the venue of mud sliding and turn it into dysfunctional.I think every website including PDF restrict post which is not go along with their engagement policy.

Government have to ensure that opposing viewpoint are not suppressed.So both mukto-mona and its opposing website should be free to run.But as an individual you can accept or reject what is suitable for you,this is your personal freedom.But govt have to be neutral to the opposing viewpoint.as they are the main enforcer of freedom of speech.

Mukto-mona or any other site should allow constructive criticism.If mukto-mona doesn't allow it then it is their fault.But you have to remember that islamic militant group don't want any constructive debate,they want to silence or derail the website.So although it is a limitation but totally understandible.

There are certain standards in every society, including Bangladesh. Constructive debate is fine, but criticism of Islam is simply crossing the line.
