The Senate was told on Thursday that underground water levels in Islamabad has dived and certain sectors were facing acute water scarcity.

During the question hour, it was told in the Senate that no proposal is under consideration to impose a ban on water boring in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of Islamabad.

The Senate was told that population of urban and rural areas of Islamabad has surpassed two million and the existing water supply is insufficient to cater to the needs of the residents. It was told that 26 new tube-wells have also been installed in Islamabad to ensure smooth supply of water.

To a question from Senator Azam Swati, the State Minister of CADD Tariq Fazal Chaudhry told the senate that arrangements have been made to supply clean drinking water to the hospitals in the federal capital. Filtration plant has also been constructed in the Polyclinic hospital and filters have been installed with all water coolers, the minister added.

Replying to a question from Senator Mohsin Aziz, the state minister told that the matter of suspension in gas supply to Polyclinic is being probed into. Three employees, including one doctor of the hospital, have been suspended in this matter, he added.

It can be due to the secret 'Golden Eye' Space weapon developed by India to reduce the water level of Pakistan.
