In Kashmir, doubts that Indian soldiers actually infiltrated across the border

BANDALA, PAKISTAN — Villagers in three areas along the de facto border between Indian- and Pakistani-controlled Kashmir said this past week that they had fled their homes in fear after intense shelling and firing from the Indian side but that they did not believe India’s claim Thursday that it had sent armed troops to conduct late-night “surgical strikes” on militant targets there.

In several dozen interviews, residents of the Bhimber, Chamb and Sahmani districts adjoining the Line of Control said they had been jarred from sleep by the barrage of firepower Wednesday. But none said they had seen or heard anything that supported India’s claim that it carried out cross-border strikes on several staging areas for militant groups that left “double digits” of militants dead.

Your comparisons with USSR and USA are so out of place that even if your argument made sense before, it does not anymore.

India is a third world country with its military not compatible with its economic capability or its objective of powers it aspires to. It cant be compared with USSR and USA. Both superpowers which can get away with murder.

Indian soldier captured had deserted his post after an altercation with senior officer and inadvertently crossed into Pakistan.


Here is an eye witness accounts from people - reported by a reliable source.

"It involved a lone Indian soldier who apparently strayed into a Pakistani village and was arrested.

A witness from the area told the BBC a "panicked" Indian soldier entered a house to seek shelter.

The residents of the house informed a Pakistani post nearby who raided the house and captured the soldier. He was wearing Indian army uniform, and was carrying a shoulder bag, locals said.


It is not clear why the soldier was in "panic" as locals did not report any border hostilities in the area.

But locals say it is not the first time Indian soldiers have entered the area.

While India has fenced most of the LoC, some border areas across the mountains are not fenced, and residents say Indian soldiers from a nearby post have been using water from the same spring as the local villagers."

they loc posts are located mostly on mountains of kashmir. even a commondo would take hours to reach the top.on the top of the mountain the big guns are placed with plenty of soldiers. you can't infiltrate from there.
2 km back from these posts are second line of defence with similar security measured. indians claim of 2 km mean they greeted pakistani soldiers there and shared flowers before the end of their cultural visit.
modi through this fake surgical strike brought the temperature in india down. pakistan may have conducted similar adventure the same night but they don't want to escalate situation there considering that the years efforts of peace would be lost if the western border is left porous.
