ISLAMABAD:
The Biden administration has presented a four-point strategy to the Afghan government, seeking an end to the war but with a chilling message that the absence of a peace deal may allow the Taliban to make “rapid territorial gains”.

The strategy was shared with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Head of the Afghan peace council Dr Abdullah Abdullah by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

He wrote letter to both leaders that were handed to them by US special envoy for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad in his recent visit.

The letter shared by TOLOnews, an Afghan news outlet, suggested that the Biden administration wants to accelerate the peace efforts.

Although, the Biden administration has yet to complete a review of the Doha deal, the US Secretary of State said the US in its initial assessment concluded "the best way to advance our shared interests is to do all we can to accelerate the peace talks and to bring all parties into compliance with their commitments".

The Afghan leadership was informed that the USwas launching a high-level diplomatic engagement with several countries including Afghan neighbours for this purpose.

As part of the four-point strategy, the US has proposed the UN-sponsored meeting of the foreign ministers of Iran, China, Russia, Pakistan and India to discuss the "unified approach" for the Afghan peace.

"It is my belief that these countries share an abiding common interest in a stable Afghanistan and must work together if we are to succeed," Secretary Blinken wrote.

The letter said Khalilzad was instructed to share specific proposals both with the Afghan government and Taliban to take the process forward.

These documents, as per the letter, would enable Afghan government and Taliban to move urgently to the task of developing (a) the foundational principles that will guide Afghanistan’s future constitutional and governing arrangements (b) a road map to a new inclusive government (c) the terms of a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire.

The US is asking Turkey to host the high-level talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban for peace agreement.

Expressing concerns over the increased level of violence, the letter said: "We have prepared a revised proposal for 90-day reduction in violence, which is intended to prevent the spring offensive by the Taliban to coincide with our diplomatic efforts to support a political settlement between the parties."

Secretary Blinken made it clear that these proposals were not meant to dictate terms to the parties but added the US expected a positive response from the Afghan government.

The Afghan side was also informed that the Biden administration had not ruled out any options at this stage. The letter went on to add that the US was considering full withdrawal from Afghanistan by May 1, the deadline set in the February 29, 2020 deal, as it pondered upon other options.

The letter concluded with a warning for the Ghani administration that the absence of deal may lead to the toppling of Afghan government by the Taliban.

"Even continuation of the financial assistance of the United States to your forces after the American military withdrawal, I am concerned that the security situation will worsen and the Taliban could make rapid territorial gains," the letter said.

Observers believe that this was clear warning for the Ghani administration, which sought extension in US troops stay and also has reservations over the possible interim set up.

"I am making this clear to you so that you understand the urgency of my tone regarding the collective work outlined in this letter," Secretary Blinken concluded.

Khalilzad, who held talks with Taliban in Doha on Friday, is expected to visit Islamabad soon to share the new push by the Biden administration for the Afghan endgame.

Pakistan must send a sickie note to the proposed neighbours meeting and refuse to attend any such meeting until India is omitted. If you are not sharing the border you are not a neighbour otherwise they should discuss these things in the UN as usual, as then every one is neighbour to every one else. US reneged on the agreement let them pay for their game we have got nothing to loose any more. As far as instability is concerned we are going to live with it for another decade as regardless who is in Kabul, US occupiers will still be there and hence the Indian terrorism in Pakistan. Best thing we have done it is fenced the border and now its time to reinforce it with the hardware and surveillance equipment.
US will be on the back foot as they don't have much of the forces left in Afghanistan unless they can afford to surge again which in time of Covid will be highly unlikely. Black water terrorist's and tugs can't save themselves never mind protecting Kabul regime any more. As soon as Taliban went back on their agreement not to attack US personal game is over for the US. US simply doesn't stops rubbing Pakistan nose as we brought the Taliban for the talks to the table and US had an agreement as a government and now they are bringing back India to this equation to undermine our security then might as F**K off. FATF blackmail days are now over, after June as we have done according to the list given to us in a good faith after that its a black mail and Pakistan as a nation won't stand for that any more. Era of black mail of A7 planes, sanctioning F 16, stopping Zulu's and list is endless, when they are going to stop, in that case no one wants you and no one cares so get lost.
Our establishment needs to grow a pair and remember the words of Zia we are a nation of 220 million with a guest of air we can't be blown away for others use and abuse. Establishment needs to take their fingers out of the Afghan pie and let civilians to deal with it as no wonder they been pushed around by CENTCOM clan and they are not respecting our concerns.

Ghani, 2 days back already signaled for an election after this warning by the US. Kabul regime was hopeful that the new administration, may revert back from the negotiations but it hasn't been the case now. Khalizad is in Pakistan today as well.

There can never be peace unless in agreement Afghani taliban and Ghani government, basically both pashtun groups accept Pak-Afghan border. Otherwise this so called peace will be temporary as India will fund terror groups in Afghanistan to carry out attacks against Pakistan.

Taliban is coming to power by force, how they will accept election results where they don't win?

I don't see the point of keeping India out. They fund terror groups against Pakistan in Afghanistan. Its important that India is part of the deal for permanent peace.

Never compromise with the snake then they will bite you in their time and place of choosing need to put down.

The snake is already bitting every day with terror attacks. Now is time to make a deal with snake.

As soon as america leaves afghanistan ,pakistan loses its last leverage over usa .Any sanctions for siding with china and pak economy will be destroyed totally.Funnily us presence in afghanistan is actually pakistan's shield against sanctions and last leverage.

That doesn't teaches you anything or you have buried your head in the sand. When snake is dead even ants will finish the caucus and we don't have to do anything. You never deal, feed, play or give time to the snake on account of your health and well being and if you can't understand this simple logic then i will rather be a monk.

Afghanistan will definitely become the graveyard of US. This WOT has already costed them their superpower status, and as the things are unfolding, America's desire to keep "check" on Pak Nukes and China through Afghanistan will be their last stand.

The WOT has stuffed the US establishment's pockets full of cash. The US economy is funded through destroying other countries, which is why such countries turn to China, because China's economy is based off spreading influence through building other countries.
