Was Imran Khan a mad Prime Minister or visionary demanding waiver on IMF loan payments

.
Was?

Nothing on the news but i would not be surprised if the sportsman has indeed resigned.

He should now invest more time in fundraising for industries affected by Covid19.

. .
When Imran Khan demanded a waiver on IMF loan payments during pandemic many in Pakistani opposition called him mad but let's see what IMF thinks about his demand and how much was that demand justified?

normal business practice. he did it right. Nothing abnormal . He got correct advice. US govt pass 2 trillion relief package to support local businesses. Its only 3 billion peanuts.

. .
this waiver should not be at the cost of nation sovereignty and compromising security

.
Well IMF is in trouble, all third world govs have an excuse to stop paying their debt due to an act of God and hopefully IMF will go bust and into the garbage can of history where it belongs.

I am sure Act of God clauses are not included/Applied in loan aggrements. If you take it you will have to pay it.

Your response reeks of illiteracy and a grave lack of basic understanding of finance and financial institutions.

You want to bite the hand that feeds you instead of thanking it.

IMF has saved Pakistan from going broke, not because IMF wants to get any benefit from Pakistan but because your leaders repeatedly spread their arms open and begged consistently in front of the whole world.

The only reason Pakistanis hate IMF is because IMF is trying to ensure Pakistan can honor its debts and fix the reasons behind having to beg every few months.

Have you actually seen the GoP - IMF debt contract? If you have not then you are in no position to say any of the above as it would be speculative at the best. Within most debt contracts, there are clauses related to 'bankruptcies', extraordinary circumstances, etc. where the Debtor can ask for debt relief. For example, all standard mortgage contracts in Australia have such clauses. Now, recently thousands of people in Australia have lost their jobs. And the first thing they have done is to go to their bank and asked for relief. And the banks had to oblige.

.
so why are banks and conglomerates begging for a gov bailout?

Two different things. Pakistani banks can beg Pakistani Govt for bailout. Pakistani govt can convince Pakistani banks to delay loan Payments of citizens. But that can't be said for International dealings of loans. IMF is an international organisation meant for business, they are not here to do charity. Donor countries recieve profit from IMF/WB on their investment. What made you think they will let go their investment?
