Want to be India's 1st strategic partner in Europe, says French Prez Macron

Macron added that India and France have decided to work together to deal with threats of terrorism and radicalisation.

Macron, in briefing with Modi, said that France wants India as its first strategic partner in Asia, and it wants to be India’s first strategic partner in Europe, and even the western world.

PARIS: French and Indian companies signed contracts worth 13 billion euros ($16 billion) on the first day of President Emmanuel Macron's visit to India on Saturday, the French presidency said in a statement.

The deals include a contract for France's Safran to supply airline Spice Jet with engines, water system modernisation by Suez in the southern city of Davangere and a contract between industrial gas company Air Liquide and Sterlite.

Macron's office did not provide a breakdown of the contracts' values or details about the deals. It, however, said some 200 million euros of investments will be made in India.

A so-called "Industrial Way Forward Agreement" was signed between French utility EDF and India's NPCIL for the construction of six nuclear reactors at Jaitapur. Negotiations over the construction of next-generation nuclear reactors in India have been dragging on for years.

It was not immediately clear whether these were firm contracts or letters of intent.

Keep calm my little Canuck mate and please
put in context of the post-Brexit Europe.

Despite show and effect words like even in the
world, the idea is to anchor India through France
to EU, a bigger market than Canada by far.

Same process but no contest!

Have a good day, Tay.

Right, same applies to Chinese and their cheer leaders.
China is a self reliant country...you can't even compare with them.. China does not go to France for buying weapons for 16 billion dollar rather it builds the UK's latest generation nuclear power plant. So there is a day and night difference...

In this case, everyone want to screw India. People are waiting in line to take their turn in screwing India. But the word “screw” does not sound good. So TimeOfIndia change it to “love.” But in reality, it’s a screw.

The amount of idiocy that goes on in PDF is beyond comprehension. Your only contribution to Pdf is that you mock India. I suppose that a designation you would cherish like other robot chinese on here.

Yes we are at least not seen as someone who would steal their technology in these countries. We are not seen with such suspicion. You can cheerlead given they are your benefactors, but all that 'China is great' is limited to PDF.

Well, people allow India to make good deals. For example, India got a free carrier. Every Indians were bragging that India got a great deal. The rest is history.

Sounds like India is getting another free carrier. This time from France.

You know I really bother about where and what i spend my time on. Its definitely can't be on you and in your nonsensical rants. So you can't drag me to your level of 'trolling for the sake of trolling' with no original point to add. Positive ratings nor the number of posts reflect intellect on PDF.
