It may be big deal that anyone other than China is holding military exercises with you. Russia is fed up by holding exercises with hanuman Indian army, so they are looking to exercise with Pakistan Brave Army and these exercises would be growing now

BRICS: China firm on NSG, Russia avoids Uri, Indian media left fuming

GOA (Dunya News) – Indian media has not taken well to the fact that Russia rejected Indian propaganda against Pakistan and China did not back Indian bid for participation in Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) in BRICS summit.

In a meeting with Narendra Modi, Indian premier, on sidelines of BRICS, Vladimir Putin refused to condemn Uri attack raising questions over Indian judgment of those involved.

Meanwhile, Chinese Xi Jinping who landed in India today for participation in the summit, has opposed Indian attempt to be a part of NSG by stating that she does not qualify.

However, Putin signed agreements of cooperation with India in different sectors worth billions of US Dollars. India and Russia have also reached an understanding to manufacture military copters.

Reportedly, India is to buy a ground-to-air targeting technology from Russia as well.

Besides Jinping and Putin, Modi held one-on-one meeting with South African Juma also.

India is the master of diplomacy in containing Russia & US same time.India knows how to roll..
Every country works according to own interest be it Russia-US,Saudi-Iran or Israel- Palestine & India knows how to manage them same time.Go through the adoring speeches given by Russia in BRICS also dubious statements given by US on daily basis pointing at Pakistan..I hope you are cautious enough to get the ground reality..You know squat about diplomacy.Think Tanks don't run the country..

India isn't the master of diplomacy, as an average Indian experiencing hyper nationalistic sentiment through vehement media campaign, you might feel it that way, just the way Italians under Mussolini , Germans under Hitler or Spaniards under Franco felt. Challenging another state in covert or over warfare space is not smart diplomacy. Realpolitik entails an aggressive move will be countered by a proportionate counter aggressive move, overall the regional security dilemma for both states and the region will increase, as tit for tat responses will spiral out into a full blown proxy war which might even spread into Afghanistan.
Russia-Indian relationship post Cold war, is solely focused on arms deals, in terms of billions of dollars, while with Pakistan, it wants its eastern region to be connected to OBOR and CPEC via Xingjiang, which borders both Pakistan and Russia. This Czarist ambition to reach warm waters was there since 18th century, they tried to come in Spain and Italy, but European powers didn't let it happen, this shifted the great game to Afghanistan , when British ruling India felt the heat of the threat from North.
The radical change can be observed when the former cold war ally of India, sent troops despite Indian warning to them, and undertook exercises with Pakistan in Kashmir region ,which India considers disputed. Russian ambassador to India played to the gallery while holding 3 week long exercises with Pakistan. All the members of brinks especially President Putin has refused to endorse Indian assertion of Pakistan behind Uri attack . China has refused to endorse India's position on NSG. Pakistan has resorted to multi-faceted diplomacy by working towards an economic regime involving Iran (since Iran requested to join CPEC ) , Central Asian Republics, China and Pakistan. At the same time bi-lateralism is being persued with Turkey, Azerbaijan, Belarus and Russia. Pak-Saudi bi-lateral defence pact remains in place. Just this year military exercises were conducted with US, Russia, Iran, Srilanka and with Azerbaijan are being planned. There is a strategic realignment happening as we speak, it is time you open your eyes, you can't own a country if you do defence deals with it. This shows who among us knows squat about diplomacy, now go watch Zee News , bash Pakistan and fall asleep while bashing.

The fact that Russia visited Pakistan for the military joint drill was clear message as well as documented despite of uri attack. So, it doesn't matter whether Indians believe or not since Russia already made the point bold clear.
