Muktsar, May 27
Despite the repeated requests of Health Department officials to villagers to follow Covid protocols, the infection continues to grow in rural areas in Muktsar district.
In about two weeks, a large numbers of cases continue to be reported from villages. For instance, as many as 32 Covid cases were reported at Midda village today only; 20 at Warring Khera village on May 25; 18 at Virk Khera village on May 23; 17 at Urang village on May 23; and 116 at Bhundar village on May 17.
A senior government doctor said they were repeatedly appealing to the public, especially those living in villages, to follow the guidelines for their own safety. “However, it is observed that a majority of people don’t wear the mandatory face mask in villages. They wear it only while travelling on any major road or coming to the town. Further, a number of people still show reluctance to Covid test and hide their symptoms,” said the doctor.
