You don't have to imagine. Just look through history. After unification, Vietnam immediately launched aggressive campaigns against its neighbors. The only reason it didn't annex more territory from other ASEAN nation is because China spent the years between 1980 to 1990 to systemically run Vietnam's resource dry through constant military pressure.
