Police in Vietnam have arrested a Chinese senior official wanted by investigators in his home country for a US$2.9 million bribery scandal in the power sector.

Officers from the Ministry of Public Security arrested Yin Wen Sheng in Nha Trang in central Vietnam and transferred him to Chinese officials in Hanoi on June 18, local media reported.

Sheng, director of the power department in Guangdong, escaped to Vietnam after his bribery accomplice admitted to taking around 18 million yuan.

Chinese authorities put out an international warrant on him and asked Vietnamese colleagues for help after they traced him to Vietnam.

Investigation found Sheng took bribes in different occasions in exchange for his approving of power projects.

Glad that Vietnam government is doing what our government is telling them to do.

I guess, the other day, Australia handed in six of those guys to the loving embrace of China, where they should have been in the first place.

Thank you to Vietnam for helping in Beijing's fight against corruption. This extradition must be based on reciprocity; hence, if in the future China happens to host a corrupt official from Vietnam, he/she will surely be sent back home in no time.

Good cooperation.

Good move, but to be honest catching few corrupt officials here and there won't stop others more corrupt members from pooping up. The system itself has to be reformed/changed from within and for that to happen an independent judiciary or independent corruption agency with wide ranging powers is needed like Hong Kong's ICAC, which is one of the best corruption commission in the world. So the ccp knows what it has to do, but for some obvious reason it doesn't want to do it. Lol

Corruptions exist in both country, Vietnam and China. It is good that these two countries are cooperate together and stop these criminals that hurts other people and the society.

It is good to let these criminals know that there is no where to run or hide with their ill-gotten money.
