Derik, Syria: A new video has emerged showing bearded men, apparently loyal to a Turkish-backed militia group, abusing the body of a dead young female Kurdish fighter, Amara Renas, by kicking and stomping on her and yelling "Allahu Akhbar".

The disturbing footage, shot by the militants themselves on Monday and released on social media, has prompted Kurdish sources to say of Turkey's proxy forces: "These are the very same methods [used by] Islamic State".

The situation on the ground had appeared quieter on Wednesday, but on Thursday ramped up significantly with Kurdish positions taking heavy fire from Turkish forces between the cities of Ras al-Ain and Tal Tamr despite what Trump had declared was a permanent ceasefire.

Four Russian military vehicles appeared in the city of Kobane, which once played host to a US military base. They were met by the leader of the Kurdish Kobane Military Council, Sheikh Hassan, and visited positions along the front.

Kurdish media saw this as a cautiously hopeful sign that Russia would be prepared to work with the local Kurdish military councils in the build up to replacing them on border patrols.

Kurdish fighter Amara Renas was allegedly killed by Turkish troops during the ceasefire.

Meanwhile, Syrian government forces crept east along the main highway, and US President Donald Trump lifted all sanctions on Turkey's leadership, claiming victory in the dispute.

"Countless lives are now being saved as a result of our negotiation with Turkey, an outcome reached without spilling one drop of American blood: no injuries, nobody shot, nobody killed," Trump said.

The claim came as a fresh atrocity – which took place during the ceasefire – came to light in which a firefight at Celbe village near Kobane resulted in the death of a young female Kurdish fighter known as Amara Renas.

A bearded man is captured in the selfie video yelling, "Allahu Akhbar ('God is greatest') ... The corpses of PKK and PYD [Kurdish political parties] pigs under the feet of the Mujahideen of Faylaq al-Majd." Others pictured in the video yell "Allah is my Lord and they have no Lord!" as they stand on a corpse and film it from more than one angle.

"This is one of your whores whom you have sent to us" they go on to say, before laughing.

Faylaq al-Majd is one of dozens of militias, mostly Islamist, that Turkey is using as its ground troops in the north-east of Syria.

A similar militia was responsible for the brutal death early in the conflict of Kurdish political leader, Hevrin Khalaf.

Trump's special envoy for Syria says US forces have seen evidence of war crimes during Turkey's offensive against the Kurds in Syria, and have demanded an explanation from Ankara.

"We haven't seen widespread evidence of ethnic cleansing," said James Jeffrey, special representative for Syria, at a House of Representatives hearing on Wednesday.

"Many people fled because they're very concerned about these Turkish-supported Syrian opposition forces, as we are. We've seen several incidents which we consider war crimes," Jeffrey said.

He said US officials were looking into those reports and at "a high-level" had demanded an explanation from Turkey's government.

He also said US officials were investigating a report that the restricted burning white phosphorus had been used during the Turkish offensive.

Jeffrey called Turkey's crossing the border and offensive against the Kurds "a tragic disaster for north-east Syria."

As the hearing took place, Trump announced that he was lifting recent sanctions imposed in response to violence in Syria, after Turkey said it is stopping combat and making a ceasefire in northern Syria permanent.

Jeffrey also confirmed Secretary of Defence Mark Esper's statement that more than 100 Islamic State fighters had escaped. "We do not know where they are," Jeffrey told the hearing.

Turkish officials have denied that war crimes were committed.

Anyone disrespecting the dead has no soul no matter what side you are on or what sex the dead is. To get political leverage using this lady's plight is also negative
I doubt this is true considering how many times the Kurds have played games of deceit but if this true then hell for those that did it.

if it is true it is very bad and brutal act and no one should defend it,turkey should ensure that they not unintentionally support isis or other khwarij in Syria
