What's new

USS Ronal Reegan surrounded by 7 Chinese warship in SCS

They already have the islands. Where was the US Navy to stop them?

They might voice their displeasure, but their Not going to start a hot water over islands. Besides, those islands could easily be targeted in any hot war.

They will only defend themselves against a first strike.

Which part of the statement you don't understand, "They already have the islands."

OK, there is really no need for that snide remark. It’s clear who you back, and that’s fine. But I’m not going to engage with snide remark’s.

Nobody wants war.

But if push comes to shove you will see.

When was the last time China was engaged in armed conflict?

The US is a warrior nation.

China is no match no matter what you say.

You sure? You said nobody wants war but US is a warrior nation. So which is it?

I don't need to say anything, I'm just educating Indians here.

Let me clarify.

No one wants war between the US and China.

And yes, the US is a warrior nation.

Just look at its history.

Also, there are no Indians in this thread to educate.

Why not? If it's so easy, US can take out a geopolitical adversary for next to no cost. American public supports it and even if it doesn't, since it'll be so easy the public won't even have a chance to respond before US wins. So why not?

Do you even read US papers on Pacific geopolitics?

You must be a kid.

Also, if this happens off your coast, you're about to have a very bad day.

Nope it's simply realism. US already destroyed multiple countries on a whim. In 1991 Gulf War US destroyed the so called 4th largest military in the world with almost no casualties. This proves the power of the US.

US is proven to be militarily powerful and are also proven to not hesitate in using that power to achieve it's strategic goals.

So what's the hesitation?

Maybe, just maybe, even allowing 7 foreign vessel within fire control radar and visual range of a carrier and isolating it from it's escorts is a massive humiliation. Hmm, did that thought pass your tiny little head?

LOL.

Ironic your talking about tiny heads.

The US, China and Russia are in a different league than say a tin pot dictatorship that had the "4th largest army" in the world.

No one in their right mind would want armed conflict between the large powers of the world, not to mention ones armed with nuclear weapons capable of MAD.

Hmm, so you agree then with my original point: US cannot simply decide to wipe those ships out. Won't be easy. Won't be bloodless. Ok then, we are in agreement.

We are in agreement that any conflict between the US and China would result in casualties on both sides, yes.

How come an aircraft carrier is all alone? Trust level 100%?
The claim thats it was alone and surrounded by 7 Chinese ships came as far as I know from the Vietnamese troll account on Twitter who gets off on the idea of a Chinese American confrontation.

Everyone else but these few propaganda mouthpieces is just speculating which ship belongs to whom and what the situation really was or naively repeating missinformation. Chinese ship patrolling the waters like always and two or three U.S. ship dicking around to disturb regional peace with saber rattling and suggesting attacks on Chinas sovereignty and mostly Chinese free trade routes would be nothing out of the ordinary.

If it really was all Chinese ships "encircling" the U.S. ship (which would be completely justified either way given the proximity to Chinese land) the U.S. regime would have already put on the crocodile tears.

Commander, Task Force 70 Holds Change of Command
By Mass Communication Specialist 3rd Class Codie L. Soule, Commander Task Force 70 Public Affairs | Oct. 1, 2019

SOUTH CHINA SEA – Commander, Task Force (CTF) 70 held a change of command ceremony, Sept. 29, in the hangar bay of America’s flagship, the forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76).

Rear Adm. George M. Wikoff assumed command of CTF 70, the U.S. Navy’s largest battle force, from Rear Adm. Karl O. Thomas.

Thomas led CTF 70 through various multinational exercises including Malabar, Keen Sword, Valiant Shield and Talisman Sabre. He worked closely with many U.S. allies, friends and partners in the Indo-Pacific region to increase the U.S. Navy’s interoperability with other nations.

"I’ve had the absolute privilege to work with and lead the greatest group of patriots our Navy and country has to offer, and you should be justifiably proud of the important role you play in our national defense strategy," said Thomas. "Your contributions and professionalism to our friends and allies has vastly enhanced peace and prosperity in the region, and built trust and increased interoperability with our partners."

Wikoff became the 75th commander of Battle Force 7th Fleet, after being the Assistant Director for Global Integration and Current Operations, J3, Joint Staff.

"I want to extend my most sincere thanks to Admiral Thomas for all of his great work over the past 14 months," said Wikoff. "His leadership has strengthened the lethality of our forward-deployed naval forces, and I look forward to continuing the culture of excellence he inspired within the strike group."

Wikoff received his commission through the George Washington University NROTC program and earned a Master of Science in Operational Management from the University of Arkansas.

Thomas’ next assignment is as the Assistant Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Operations, Plans and Strategy in Washington.

Surprisely, commander of US 7th fleet is changed just after this incident on 25 sep 2019. And he is on helms for only 14months?

He made a rash decision to send a single CVN to provoke PLAN and after get chased out of the water? Maybe Trump is not happy with him and sack him?

The photo first came out from weibo from a Chinese user. Only these Vietnamese help to bring this new to English Twitter.

From a credible source. The confrontation ends in humiliating withdraw from USS Ronald reegan from the area. The commander himself believe to got the sacking by Trump.
