Use isolation threat to force policy change in Pakistan, report tells Trump admin

Most they can do it to stop providing Pakistan any militarily aid. Obama already cut that aid incrementally over the years that its pretty insignificant now though its still quite alarming to see US started to speak Indian tongue more and more now. Best we can do is not to provide Trump administration any excuse to put Pakistan on any notice that is telling US what we can do and what we cannot. Don't take responsibility of any peace prospect in Afghanistan, don't let Hafiz Saeed type character enjoying full celebrity status here. Talk straight and articulate with US over Haqqani network in Pakistan if there is any. Our aim should be CPEC and revival of economy rather than becoming lapdog of US again.

Indeed should improve relations with China and Russia. Being dependent on the US for anything is a bad thing.

So 2 bharatis and 3 certified nutjobs who have a bone to pick with Pakistan. Yes, this report will be forgotten within a few days. Meantime, the bharatis can rejoice while it's still fresh in the memory of a few people.

Not Again. I wish i was his advisor. so i would tell him:

'ITS ALREADY TESTED BY INDIANS AND HAVE FAILED.' :pakistan::china:

US put sanctions or not or do arm twisting but Pak foreign policy, actually a complete lack of it is palpable!! The beleaguered PM wont relinquish FM office and the two undelings are either bickering or busy in PR.
It is imperative upon GHQ to convince NS to focus on high levels and appoint a competent FM, he can even borrow Mushahid Hussain Syed from PML Q.

.
Pakistan is too big for such carrot or stick games now. Gone are those days, Yes, being the sole super power Uncle Sam may arm twist us, only on minor issues just for their face saving; But they know nothing major will change.

Thought Pakistan and US should cooperate, after all we are old allies.

Oh come one. Saudi Arabia and China are the only allies of Pakistan.

. . .
Erm isolation was tried to full effect back in the early 90's. It didn't work. Who writes these reports?

.
The report only articulates a perception that is quite common in the west - and I suspect in China as well. The only difference is that the West does not need Pakistan now so it's not taboo to publicise such views.

I Just Love How You Indians Blindly Copy Paste Trash From DAWN I Really Do :lol::lol:

So Dawn is trash, Times of India is biased, Washington Post is part of an international conspiracy - what do you want - Xinhua? :)

Btw do you know who founded Dawn? You chaps should be grateful to Dawn instead of dissing it as trash. It's one of the few publications that have any name-recognition among journalists.

.
Care to enlighten how do you tell 'Trash' from real news?

And Do Stop Writing Like A 5 Year Old.
dawn is headed by a close political ally of nawaz sharif who keeps forcing dawn to publish b.s. articles like this to somehow intimidate the judicial and the Military establishments since the sharif's doomed leaguers have this misconception that the judiciary and the Military are in kahoots behind the curtains and are conspiring against the government. THAT is why this article is trash. The fact is neither the judiciary nor the Military are in kahoots with each other and nor do they give two rats' tails about any threat of "isolation"!

nothing new in the analysis or advise. There are only two things Pakistan understands and to change their behavior both should be tried, as in the past. First cut off their allowance; next just go bomb their terrorists havens which they themselves won't do.

There was some hope some years ago that if we give them some positive encouragement, some rewards for behavior etc they will mend, but they have gotten addicted to rewards to such a degree that without reward they don't do any clean up. In fact they may even be creating more jihadi nuts and going to bed for rats such as hafis saeed just to trade for more rewards. This thievery has become such national character that some of them don't even think it strange to say things like good terrorists!

Such articles just goes to show that Americans are actually really struggling with how to deal with Pakistan to achieve their golas. There is no clear cut policy. All their think tanks just seem to say 'let's try this, let's try that'.

A confused enemy is always a good thing.

we certainly are not your enemy. Which enemy sends you hundreds of millions of dollars every year?

Well, get used to it - one of those "nutjobs" as you so derisively call them will likely be the next Asst Secretary of State for South Asian Affairs - and no doubt will have to certify the next tranche of economic and financial aid to Pakistan - so it's wise to keep him/her (likely a 'her') in good humour.

:lol::lol:

There have been "think tanks" and "experts" like this for decades now, making calls for isolating Pakistan and invading Pakistan. And it's business as usual. You need to get used to it - getting your hopes up will probably cause a lot of heartburn.

And LOL @ Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian affairs. Tell me last time that position actually mattered.:lol: The fact that you actually used that position makes it obvious even you don't take this seriously.

Like I said, you can enjoy this for a few days. It's the first day of the "report" and already its lost steam. 2 more days and no one will remember it exists.
