Hi,

As the issues with Afghanistan and india are never ending----Pakistan must look at things thru a different lens.

My suggestion would be to use the 3 1/2 million afghan refugees to Pakistan's advantage. We know very well that these refugees don't want to go back to Afghanistan and want to stay in Pakistan.

So---if Pakistan can give them an incentive----that they go back to Afghanistan---move into the neighboring states across the border and start a movement to join Pakistan and break away those states from Afghanistan.

So---the problem with Afghanistan can be resolved that way---the Pashtun states join Pakistan---and the remaining non Pashtun states keep their Afghanistan---.

So---by default---the afghan refugees can now claim to be living in Pakistan and Pakistan would be happy to accommodate them as its own citizen.

NPOE NOPE NPOE NPOE NOPE NPOEN POMNEPO NPOEN PONE PONEPO NPOE NPONEPONPE.

In my opinion something similar is bound to happen sooner or later ..... as these people have proven that they cannot live together and neither non pushtons are ready to accept pakistan as their neighbor hence seems a logical solution

This presupposes the fact that Pakistanis are the only ones with brains .

Pakistan took help from Uncle Sam and shafted him alongside , the Afghans are doing the same to Pakistan.

The difference being mass incursions due to unguardable borders & Pak policy led to mass incursion of Afghans . They have a momentum & agenda of their own inside Pakistan.

What incentive can Pakistan give them that they dont already have ?

In fact they have it at no cost to themselves !

Pakistan can cut their incentives big time if they don't listen. By the way not all refugees are Pushtoon so this is not a feasible strategy.

What are the incentives & what will be the backlash ?

And what about the Pashtun majority Afghan Taliban? What will they claim then? Pakistan? Remaining Afghanistan? Start a fresh insurgency to break away Pashtun parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan and make that a new nation state? Or introduce a system similar to IS and claim Caliphate and reject all boundaries and concepts of 21st century nation states? Join IS?

I'm sorry but, I just fail to see any positive outcome except more death and bloodshed.

Peace.

You provide them with resources, guns and ammo too, perhaps. You know what happens next ? You know where will the guns end up ? I mean you already had a 'Kalashnikov culture' problem. Is it affordable to do the same mistake again ?

So basically what you are saying is use this refugees to create a force that will start a campaign for breakup of east Afghanistan which is a terrorist hub by the way. So let's say the refugees agree to our demands that we will give them a province and the pashtun areas will be united if they lead a movement. Here is a thing to do this we will need to he in contact touch with their appointed leaders and provide them funds for it...

Of course the afghan govt and the Taliban and small factions of Isis won't be happy and will try to quell them with force so they will need a military wing to defend the movement and themselves which means we will have to create an armed force that will carry out strategic operations which will include suicide bombings and full operations to destabilize the govt and force them to concede to their demands.

And then after being condemned by the world and America for doing this , let's say we inherit that east afghan area which will be full of Taliban, ttp factions, Isis, disgruntled loyal afghans to Afghanistan and of course a wide armed and well trained militia men who will be a ticking time bomb...

Then we will have to launch another operation against them but on a much much larger scale with Afghanistan supporting anti state elements and odcourse among the separatists movement there will be those that will want pukhtunistan since with the areas combined they will have a real shot at it and we will have to quell them as well...

Sounds like a massive hassle which has more cons than pros... I got an easier way.

Expel the afghans, use the money that would have went to above , to fund for the closure of borders. I am talking ditches, mines, barbed wires, sentinels, train more personal to guard it....

And if you really want an afghan territory then maybe annex wakhan in the future when China is very close to us and we are stronger....

What are the incentives & what will be the backlash ?

If Pakistan does not let them come back again on its soil they loose a lot in financial terms and social terms, some of them are smugglers and have huge money earned through this business if Pakistan starts crack down on their business they loose everything and honestly for most of them Pakistan is more attractive than Afghanistan. What Afghanistan has to offer them except that is where they may get raw material for drugs, what else?

Backlash from their side?

Thanks

But are these incentives ?

But how does Pak stop them from returning, why should they ' leave' in the 1st place when they can move back & forth at will ?

Yes, backlash from their side .

if we read the history for last 2000 years , one thing is very clear in last 2000 yrs .. the present day pakistan and afganistan have stayed together for 1500+ years sometimes under the name of ghandara, umayyads, abbasids,& mughals, last time under the name of Durrani empire and its been 200 years now we have not been together soo why dont we unite again under Presidential system and have united defence policy, foreign policy, natural resources policy, & financial policy. 2 attempts were made in modern history of nation states in uniting Afghanistan and Pakistan . 1st, Liaqat Ali Khan tried with the last king of Afghanistan Zahir Shah to merge two states under confederation system, & 2nd attempt was made by General Ayub Khan of Pakistan & General Daud khan of afghanistan but both times they failed ....lets hope in future we can have a some sort of union just like a European union but under US federal system

Thanks

But are these incentives ?

No problem.

For an individual who values money yes these are the only incentives. And they know it very well.

But how does Pak stop them from returning, why should they ' leave' in the 1st place when they can move back & forth at will ?

If you believe Quetta Shura exists then what makes you think Pakistan cannot do it?

Yes, backlash from their side .

They are not that crazy in fact not crazy at all. What will they do?

That pot you're smoking must be really top tier man, where'd you get it? :p

Afghanistan will split up, The Pashtuns will either join Pakistan, or will have thier own state, the Hazaras will have their state, the Tajiks will go to Tajikistan, and Uzbeks to Uzbekistan. Even once this happens, there still won't be peace, instead perhaps more wars. Pakistan can't expand like that, unless another Zia-ul-Haq or Saddam Hussein comes to power in Pakistan. No other way for peace there, besides nuking the place till it turns into the "Afghan sea", we might even have to include Balochistan and NWFP to really have peace though. Plus, I'm sure Pakistan has some problems that she needs to fix, before appointing a pothead like Nawaz the PM of fairly prosperous post-soviet states who hate our guts.

oh, Post scriptum:
The last thing any sane person would want is to arm 3 million uneducated fools who've probably seen their family members die in front of them thanks to the AfghanTaliban, but are yet pro-Pakistani Taliban with weapons, unless you have 12 million troops ready or want them to take over Pakistan and start nuking places at random.
