USA is feeling the heat and "American truth" has came to rescue their depleting arrogance. Indians have really taught something to the world. ;)

Did you just edit the wikipedia page yourself then came here to troll?

. . .
How sad and pathetic can the US get? Just embarrassing.

Anybody: *assumes to find yet another intance of U.S. and pawns fabricating facts and rewriting history in another instance of U.S. and pawn manipulation of Wikipedia in another instance of U.S. and pawns using dubious and well known fake U.S. and U.S. pawn sources and mallicious misquoting and even blatantly falseflagging as a Chinese/Russian/Arab individual to shift blame for U.S. manipulation on others*
Washingtons troll army: NO WE'D NEVER DO THAT! THIS MUST BE A FALSE FLAG BY YOU! SLANDER!

For the US, the difference is likely because of different year of data (2014 and 2017, as clearly indicated).

Just like many other countries (including Vietnam, sadly), the US total length of operational railways may have been reduced gradually.

70000 km of railways built in a single day, incredible USA! But ratios like % of electrified, area of 65.5 per km track, population of 2060 per km track ... are EXACTLY the same and remain unchanged, why? Perhaps US territory and population increased by 50% on that same day ...

They just changed the metric for the U.S. to include tracks on yards, sidings and count double and other parallel tracks individually.

This is why Wikipedia is usually useless BS because they have horribly low to no standards and make no effort to regulate even the simplest things like this, just like anyone can put up a fake "quote" with a source that says something completely different or nothing like it at all and if some angry Indian with higher privileges likes the disinformation its stays there even when people point out its BS, just like in the rest of U.S. media.

One thing to realize about Wikipedia is that it is constantly edited day to day with new information.

Instead of looking at Wikipedia itself, look at the links and sources.
