Sanction against Russia from BD will not do shit to Russian economy but will effect BDs. On the other hand if west turns against BD in this then that will hurt BD s economy too. So its really a loss loss situation for BD. Lets see what Hasinas decisions going to be.

Over last few years, Russians quietly expanded influence over Awami League regime. Gas and arms contracts are testament to that fact. Russian embassy in Dhaka was more active than anytime in last 25 years. Russian backing (along with indian and one other country) for Awami regime was crucial in killing and suppressing of Bangladeshi opposition and scuttle free and fair election.

Western missions are fully aware of these facts. Although, US sanction originated from broader and different confrontation, they will use every bit of this sanction regime in Bangladesh or anywhere else. There is no room for neutrality in this fight; message is "you are with us or against us". France and Germany in large part learned that hard and fast. For reference look into BNP Paribus fine and Mistral deals. That means any Awami arms deal and plan for looting is on deep freeze, unless Awami League willing to sacrifice Bangladeshi garments export. That is why indian are pushing and would push Awami League to stood up to US and destroy garment export.

This also pose serious challenge for Awami regime clinging into power with murdering force and with indian support. In coming days, one can expect even more Awami killing and oppression of Bangladeshi population.
