no helicopter, I mean we are developing a few models, but not before they are done. But once it's done, it's easy. I don't say easy lightly.

Now, some nations choose to go for bigger ships right away, but in fact they can't handle it. We on the other hand have almost all the ingredients ready or in development.

Z-20, Z-15, WZ-10, and one to two more models will need at least until 2020 to be fully mature platforms. Then be prepared for 2 LHD every 2-3 years.

We also have to expand Marine corp too, to I heard two to three divisions rather than three brigades.

Of course, replenishment ships, nuclear subs, more 052D and 055 as well as Y-20 as refuelers for long range missions are also needed for any operation.

By 2019, we would have fully modern single soldier combat gear, more satellites, Carrier launched AEW and surveillance planes, as well as normal long range ones.

Can we get it now? Simple enough, it's easier than a 052D that needs world beater weapon systems, and speed, but we lack the system to handle it right now, and I must say, other than America, almost nobody else could handle it, Japan and France can sort of do it, with Britain at a distant fourth.

thanks for your detailed/constructive reply bro. i appreciate that. better than leveling cheap insults like other members here do when they dont have much to counter a point. We can agree to disagree in a polite/respectful manner. cheers.

But your last statement....we are not a distant fourth.:p: we are on par or even ahead of Japan, maybe a tie with with France.:-)

I was just about to comment on this myself................no way is the UK a distant 4th in capability to the French, and sure by 2020 onwards, even with a small fleet, will be the most capable in Europe! :p:

Well we already have 8 Wasp Class that are only slightly smaller

BTW they are longer and heavier than our biggest WW2 carriers. LOL!

You probably can buy some old ones dirt cheap (there's 7 of them around somewhere).

I'm none to sure anyone would like to acquire the old Iwo Jima's. True, there where seven of them at one point, but LPH-10 is the only one to remain intact. 5 of the ships where sunk in SinkEx exercises, while a sixth was scrapped. LPH-10 is used for missile interception testing. I wouldn't mind selling a few to a sucker willing to buy them, but that would be quite disingenuous.

The US does not sell its old carriers and LPH/LHA.

You're right that the US doesn't sell such equipment, I was making a point that even if we would sell such equipment it would not be possible with the Iwo Jimas as 5 are at the bottom of the ocean, one has been dismantled and the remaining is being used as a ballistic missile launch platform for interception testing.

A question too I you would. I've seen you post primarily in navy sections and topics, what's your relationship to the navy? I myself am ex US Navy.

. .
I'm interested.

And I will respect you ambiguity. You are quite knowledgeable, my focus was on electronic systems, but you seem to have a greater range of information especially with foreign systems, something I have had little experience with. Nice to see someone else who can provide substance and quality to a forum that is often devoid of such.

Well, not recently.
The US transferred some 30 CVE to the UK during WWII. The USS Cabot (CVL) was transferred to Spain (Delgado) in 1955, where it served till 2002. The USS Belleau Wood and USS Langley were both transferred (in the 1950s) to France (and returned in the 1960s for scrapping).

A number of countries have older US assault ships, no LPH/LHA (those are still relatively new).

The US also has 3 carriers decommissioned and awaiting final disposition (scrapping or museum status is anticipated). 2 more are in the disposal process. There are also 5 carriers in museum ship status. The US also has 8 battleships in place as museum ships.

Anyone wanna do museum ships vs museum ships?
