to be taken with a pinch of salt!!
ITA inherited the regulatory mantle of the guys who made the export-driven part of the Marshall Plan a success. The Marshall Plan rebuilt Western Europe after WWII.

Note that Russell went around the State Dept. to do this. So it's probably the very opposite of "a pinch of salt" issue: this is the guy who can facilitate Pakistani manufacturers' access to U.S. markets and capital.

have heard this sooooo many times but rarely do we see anything happening.

Is their a more useless statement than this one. "We will work towards something something which will bring an investment of something".
At the end, after years of discussion US gives a $1 Million to some nameless, worthless project with a big USAID logo.

Please! You can save that for the Trump land, Pakistan is doing just fine without it. Thank you.

ITA isn't USAID. ITA doesn't control or sponsor capital investment abroad. Rather, they have a primary role in regulating access to the U.S. market. Being on good terms with them can smooth over difficulties and perhaps make the difference between a successful and unsuccessful exporting economy.

Good news, if true.

The very institute where I am employed (and studying) at the moment, came into existence with support of USAID. And this institute is one of the finest in Pakistan, at present.

USAID can do lot of good for Pakistan but Pakistani bureaucracy (and politicians) seldom approve projects in which USAID is willing to help - education and welfare programs in large part. I conducted a feasibility study for the construction of a Center for Research in Finance for a notable institute, but institutional bureaucracy was not interested. I proposed funding from USAID, if this was the issue; this also fell on deaf ears.

USAID is not a fault.
