US-Bangla set to fly S'pore, KL from next month


Country's private carrier US-Bangla Airlines (USBA) is set to expand it wings to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur in next month, reports BSS.

The carrier is going to start its maiden flight to Dhaka-Kuala Lumpur-Dhaka on March 1 while Dhaka-Singapore-Dhaka on March 9 after successful operation in three others international destinations.

"We will operate daily flight except Friday and Saturday on Dhaka-Kuala Lumpur-Dhaka route while Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday on Dhaka-Singapore-Dhaka route," said USBA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Imran Asif while announcing their new destinations at a press conference at a hotel here today.

He said the Kuala Lumpur (KL) bound flight will leave Dhaka on March 1 at 8 pm (local time) with Boeing 737-800 aircraft and reach KL at 2am (local time). Besides, it will head for Dhaka at 3am (local time) and land in Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at 5am (local time).

On the other hand, the maiden flight to Singapore will leave HSIA on March 9 at 11pm (local time) and reach Singapore at 5.15 am (local time) and it will head for Dhaka at 6.15am (local time) and land in HSIA at around 8:30am (local time), added the USBA CEO.

USBA Director Gazi Salauddin and Deputy Director Sohail Majid were present at the press conference.

Within two years of its operation, the USBA explored the international arena with Dhaka-Kathmandu route. Other than operating on all domestic routes, it is operating on Muscat and Kolkata route.

The minimum fare for Dhaka-Kuala Lumpur flight has been fixed at BDT 20,499 and with return at BDT 27,999 inclusive of all taxes and surcharges. And for Dhaka-Singapore it will be BDT 19,999 and with return, BDT 31,999 has been fixed initially.

Mentioning that the USBA family is proud to start its operation in these great destinations of Asia, Imran Asif said: "There are plans to operate flights in Bangkok, Guangzhou, Doha and many other destinations very soon."

On July 17 in 2014, USBA started its operation with two DASH 8Q-400 aircraft while another DASH 8Q-400 aircraft was added to its fleet later.

Currently, the USBA has DASH 8Q-400 aircraft and two Boeing 737-800 aircraft in its fleet. Another Boeing 737-800 aircraft will be added to its fleet within February 24, 2017. And within August, 2017, the forth Boeing 737-800 and DASH 8-Q400 aircraft will be joining its fleet as well.

"With the larger fleets, USBA has plans to operate in Saudi Arabia and other vital destinations within the fourth quarter of this year," revealed the USBA CEO.

He also said USBA is going to offer pick and drop services from home to airport and airport to home for the business class passengers from March 1.

The USBA is operating flight to Muscat from Dhaka and Chittagong as well as to Kolkata from Dhaka daily with Boeing 737- 800 Aircraft. And three days a week, flights in Dhaka-Kathmandu route is being operated.

Meanwhile, from February 1, it has been operating three flights to Cox's Bazar and three Flights to Jessore daily.

Moreover, it has been operating six flights on Dhaka-Chittagong route, two flights on Dhaka-Saidpur route and one flight on Dhaka-Sylhet route daily. In addition, three flights on Dhaka-Barisal and Dhaka-Rajshahi routes are being operated weekly.

I think they could've come up with a better name though

I think Biman Bangladesh should also be privatized. It'll be good for our airline, as its services are currently sub-par.
