US B-1 bomber conducts 30 hour round trip sortie to Japan in 'global power' training mission

logistic supply for artificial islands will make them more expensive in long run as people staying their need food and other necessaries to survive and will make soldiers sick minded due to isolation ,on other hand using carrier groups for temporary patrols is much cheaper
Such assault ship is very useful and effective, more suitable than giant aircraft carriers to deter the PLA.

You should build a dozen of them. Put F35 on them. Do more patrols in the SCS. Maybe worth a though. Money is there. Why not build artificial islands and establish a permanent carrier base. No need to go back and forth from Guam or elsewhere to midst of SCS.

More ships, more planes, more parties, more fun.

How about Japan?

when we will see the first Japan‘s F35 carrier in the SCS?

I don’t think more expensive than cruising up and down from Guam. US and Japan carriers can get resupply from oil to food to water by Vietnam, Philippine, Indonesia and Malaysia.

The PLA has established islands. They put missiles and attack aircraft on them. Just a matter of time they launch attacks on Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia. They may not attack the Philippines because of US military alliance.

.
i guarantee you they will never attack any of the mentioned country,I think such islands can be formed by stationing vietnam soldiers as u.s not have extra troops for such islands due to their already stretched number of bases across the world unlike china who have not such bases and are mostly focusing on south china sea

Since 2016, once a year, one of the DDHs conduct a 2-3 month long mission through South East Asia and into the Indian ocean. In 2016, JS Ise went. In 2017, JS Izumo went. In 2018, JS Kaga went. For 2019, JS Izumo went again. Not sure if 2020 will see a dispatch because of the virus, hopefully so, but it'll probably be JS Kaga again.

The studies into how to modify JS Izumo to operate F-35Bs has been carried out and defense budget for this year includes the cost for carrying out the modification (page 13). Maybe the modification will take one year. While Japan plans on getting 42 F-35Bs, the first 6 have already been paid for in this year's defense budget (page 8). So then its a matter as to how quickly the US Foreign Military Sale (FMS) can process that order and deliver the F-35Bs. But before Japanese F-35Bs are flown off JS Izumo, the US will provide a test run with American F-35Bs on JS Izumo when it finishes the modification. The FMS can be painfully slow sometimes but I'd imagine about a year of training with Japanese F-35Bs will be needed first before sending out the modified JS Izumo carrying a squadron of F-35Bs to the East Sea (South China Sea). Hopefully it'll be ready within 5 years. If FMS is quick, maybe in 3 years.

That is your opinion only. Liaoning is better than this LHD. J-15 has longer ranger and plus buddy to buddy refuel. The radar system and combat management system is newer and better than this make shift carrier.
J-15 takes off using ski ramp which significantly reduce its payload capability
also the F-35 operate the MOST ADVANCED electronics there is on a combat aircraft, J-15 is no match

Significant by how much? If J-15 max payload is 9tons. Even a reduction of half is enough for 2 anti-ship , 2 WVRAAM and 2 BVRAAM. And there still enough left to carry a JADM.

.
Seven F-2s and eight F-15Js from the JASDF joined the B-1B and four F-16s from the USAF.

Four F-15Js were from Komatsu air base.
Three F-2s were from Hyakuri air base.
Four F-2s were from Tsuiki air base.
Four F-15Js were from Naha air base.

I was wondering about that "blue F-16" in the OP pictures.

Very nice indeed.

"The Mitsubishi F-2 is a multirole fighter derived from the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon, and manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Lockheed Martin for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, with a 60/40 split in manufacturing between Japan and the United States."

yup of course there are rooms for extra loads, but sure to expect a decrease in combat radius
also don't forget F-35s are stealth, J15 is not. and please don't compare J-15 electronics to F-35. its clearly no match between the two. even block ii super hornet are much more advanced than your J-15.

Half payload is with full fuel pump in need. It still beat F-35 in any combat radius.

Btw, an Indonesia cheering for Australia and US. Well done!

but it didn't beat the F35 in stealth and electronics and many more parameters and oh, I do forget to mention F35 carry its weapons internally thereby reducing drags.

should I cheer for China as well??
