This thread serves as part of our series of posts aimed at providing updates and information about our continued efforts against ISIL. As many of you might be aware, our operations in Iraq and Syria against ISIL fall under Operation Inherent Resolve. Airstrike operations are being carried out independently by the U.S. military and Coalition Nations. Coalition Nations that are conducting airstrikes in Iraq include Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Coalition nations conducting airstrikes in Syria include Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Between Nov 28 and Dec 1, 2014, the U.S. military has conducted 13 strikes near Mosul, against IS in Iraq and 17 strikes near Kobani, against IS in Syria. These strikes were targeted at ISIL’s tactical units, infrastructure, and artillery in our efforts to eliminate this terrorist organization and put an end to its activities within the region.

There is a rumor that Iran has started targeting ISIL in airstrikes. Can you confirm or deny this?

In the end US will be running, stepping on its own tail as they go and eventually China will surpass the US. The Americans and their colonial policies must end and I would be grateful if it is an Asian power that rids us of American hegemony.

Any idea if IRIAF F-14's have seen some action - if yes, that would be awesome. Love that aircraft! :)

They have been for a while. The Iranian AF however lacks a reliable all weather precision strike hardware.

I doubt that they are even operational.

@Serpentine

Yes, they are operational, all receiving maintenance and upgrades inside the country.

There is a very interesting article about the life of Iran's Tomcats after the war, their upgrades, maintanence. It's published in October 2013 issue of Combat Aircraft magazine, I have the scanned pics of the article, but adding them here may violate forum's copyright laws, but here's the cover, you can download the magazine and read the article.

Also, tale a look at this thread, very informative one.

These planes badly need an upgrade, though would not count out the Iranians, they are very industrious.

seems the White House and the Department of Defence are engaged in a war against eachother.

proof of that is Obama's sacking/forced resignation of Chuck Hagel - who himself comes from military credentials ('Nam vet)
