UPDATE: Syrian Surface-To-Air Missile Flew Way Off Course Triggering Alarms Before Exploding Over Israel

.
I find the story that this was a stray S-200 missile suspicious, to say the least. Air defense missiles have small warheads intended to damage aircraft by blast fragmentation. They're also radar-fuse fired and usually explode in mid-air if they don't hit a target within an intended range.

Even a short-range ballistic missile like the Iskandr has a warhead weight at least twice that of an S-200.

Israel is too humiliated to admit the truth.

Nice of you to drop in and contribute. This is not the first time Syrian SAM's have landed on Israeli territory, a much shorter range SS21 Scarab hit Israel in 2018.

The Syrian rockets, which were apparently fired as part of internal fighting in the country’s southwest, set off sirens throughout northern Israel on Monday morning.

The projectiles fired from Syria were identified as Russian-made OTR-21 Tochka missiles (also known as SS-21 Scarab missiles) and were in the air for a minute and a half. The missiles can carry a 500 kilogram (half ton) warhead and have a range of 100 kilometers (60 miles).

Thanks for contributing absolutely nothing to the thread.

Nice of you to notice, friend! Good to see you here as well.

You know me, I'm a geopolitics junkie - it's my sport and soap opera rolled into one. Whenever there's some sh*t going down around the world, you can be old Zeke will be there with his:pop:
Just when I was getting into the Myanmar thing, the Middle East pulls me back in!

The Tochka is a short-range ballistic missile like the Iskandr (I believe the Iskandr is a successor), not a SAM. I'm not an expert and I could be corrected, but I don't think an explosion like the one in the posted footage could be caused by a stray SAM. Maybe the footage is doctored, I don't know, but there are multiple Twitter reports around the same time of a large explosion - I find it dubious that the relatively small warhead of a stray SAM (if it even went off on the ground) would be powerful enough to do that.

That's the most definitive point in the whole story. Warhead of a stray SAM wudnt make most of Israel shake nd make them aware of an explosion

Perhaps, I'm merely presenting facts to contradict your initial objection to the distance travelled by the S200. It's easy to misjudged the intensity of explosions particularly in the early hours of the day. I don't think there is much evidence to support or counter the Israeli or Iranian narrative at this time.

Unknown? How can someone not know if there was and interception or not? Aren't missiles independently monitored?
You'd think with all that billions they receive in tech and money from the US and EU, they'd have the equipment to know...
