Ukrainian Howitzers Moving towards Crimea:

Ukrainian T 64 moving out:

This is being widely reported in the Russian media, with the suggestion that this might be part of a show of force in the lead up to the Crimean referendum. The Ukrainian Defence Ministry is refusing to comment, merely stating that this is part of a routine military exercise (the exact location of which is yet to be disclosed)

What will they do ? Surrender to Russian army lol. A few conventional Iskanders and Ukraine military gone.

A UN backed referendum should sort this problem out.

Oh man, this won't end well for the Ukrainians. Have they ever fought in a conflict? Their equipment will be massively outnumbered and is not on par quality wise with the Russians. Just let the crimea go.

I pray for peace. War is dreadful.

Georgia is much smaller than Ukraine but delievered russia heavy blows in 2008 and even shot several russian airplanes down.

But the Georgian losses were far greater my friend. They will also have to contend with a hostile civilian population. The Ukrainians have practically zero experience of conflict, save some peace keeping missions and that contribution is small as well.

I hope war does not break out.

Stop talking nonsense ... Russia reached Georgian capital in a single week...

The only causalities they gave were civilians when Georgians started indiscriminate shelling in the city of Tskhinvali and bombed villages

ironically the aircraft were shot down by Russian SAMs.. which they Russians thought they could counter.
However, it was essentially Georgia that opened the front.. Yet, the engagement also stunned the Russian military on their "fits and starts" deployment..along with clear lack of preparedness in joint combat operations. Since then it seem the Russians have focused on reorganizing their armed forces.

No, the Russians took causalities as well. Much more so in their lack of anticipating a Georgian intent on fighting it out.

Of course they did, but not to the level claimed by the Georgians or the dude above...

The Ukrainian Air force is without many air combat types... less than 50 in serviceable condition presumably...it is reported that the Entire Mig-29 force based around the Crimea region has been made irrelevant by the Russians.
The remainder is Su-25 and Su-24s of which the numbers serviceable are reported to be between 70-120.

The Russian Military is not the same as in 2008. Many Western Military experts are surprised and start to warn their Governments to avoid an escalation.
