A lot of that is due to loss of people. For instance, 2 million Ukrainians of Crimea became Russian citizens. 2 million out of Ukraine's population of 40 million = 5%. There goes 5% of Ukraine's economy right off the bat. Ukraine's last census was 45 million in 2001. By the time of Maidan in November 2013 it had fallen to 40 million due to emigration.
Also, millions in Donbas fled to Russia and no longer contribute to Ukraine's economy.
Also, emigration rate, already incredibly high before Maidan, is now much higher and millions of Ukrainians are immigrating to Canada.
So the 7.5% fall is likely a lie and the real fall is likely a lot more than that.
