Ukraine asks Turkey to stop and seize Russian ship with Ukrainian grain

Ukraine has asked Turkey to stop and seize the Russian-flagged cargo ship Zhibek Zholy, which is carrying grain it received from the Russian-held port of Berdyansk, according to a Ukrainian official and a document obtained by Reuters.

Official of Ukrainian Foreign Ministry , citing information received from the country's merchant shipping services, said the Zhibek Zholy had loaded about 4,500 tons of grain from Berdyansk, a city owned by Ukraine.


In a letter dated June 30 and addressed to Turkey's Ministry of Justice, Ukraine's general prosecutor's office also claims that Zhibek Zholy is involved in "illegal export of Ukrainian grain" from Berdyansk to Karasu Turkey. In this letter it is stated that the cargo reaches 7,000 tons of cargo, an amount greater than that stated by the official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

They're a NATO member and a Ukrainian ally having invested heavily in Ukrainian defence and aerospace industries. Russia is and has always been a regional rival/enemy. The recent warming of ties between Russia and Turkiye is only for show, in reality, they hate each other's guts.

If NATO didn't exist, Turkiye would still take similar actions.

They're on opposing sides on multiple battlefields. In Syria, Libya, the Caucasus, and Ukraine.

Remember, Turkiye even shot down an intruding Russian fighter, and rejected Russian demands to withdraw from Syria, Libya and Azerbaijan.

It's a binding agreement, Turkiye can take them to the international court of Justice or the eu courts.

Back to the topic, this is going to test Turkey's role as the broker of any grain deal. Zhibek Zholy’s departure from Berdyansk yesterday with the first grain cargo from there was largely ignored in view of the Snake Island events. Insurance and leasing also noteworthy.

Can u guys plz restore the russia Ukraine war thread? Getting complaints is not an excuse to close the thread, ban the users that discuss off topic. Just because the war is going against wishes of few mods here doesn't mean u close the thread. The war is in a crucial stage and guys here were providing amazing coverage from both sides. If some mods have problems with complaints then make it just a news thread and let the vast nmbr of ppl who only read it, to enjoy. Why deprive readers only of the information because of few complaints? Its already been many days. Kindly restore that thread, in today's depressed political situation, that thread was the only interesting thing.
