Actually I did not know until recently, that Arab-Indonesians (some 5 million people) are the largest non-native ethnic group in Indonesia after the Han Chinese in Indonesia. Almost all of the Arabs in Indonesia and South East Asia as a whole originated from Yemen and KSA. Add that there is a large Indonesian diaspora in the GCC (KSA in particular) and many local citizens of Indonesian origin. Add the religious, cultural etc. aspects. Or economic one. If you add all this, the GCC and Indonesia should really be one of the strongest allies out there that you can imagine.

Before the Brits, Arabs used to own most of Singapore even controlling most of the trade between Western Asia and Southeast Asia before the Europeans got the overhand.

When I used to live in Jeddah, there were tons of local Saudi Arabians of Indonesian/Malay origins as well not including the local diasporas.

The cooperation with Indonesian Aerospace include N 219 and our MALE UCAV Elang Hitam. I wonder whether we are going to integrate UAE missile on this plat form @Philip the Arab

There is an opportunity for far more than just that in my opinion.

Even help on missile development is possible considering Indonesia is trying to reverse engineer the C-705.

Cruise missiles, loitering munitions, air defense munitions etc.

There is an agreement between PT PAL and Calidus for 8x8 vehicle development.

They also have many hundreds of Brazilian engineers who worked at Embraer that can help Indonesia with development of C235, N219 and other aircraft.

Just correction, the cooperation with this 8x8 UAE Wahas (Calidus) is not with PT PAL Indonesia (shipbuilder), but with PT Pindad
