UAE committed to promote moderate Islam, defeat extremism

. .
Sisi of Egypt is the only leader I've seen that has said aspects of Islam need to be reformed.

He's said that preaching about Jihad etc needs to stop. Imams are now being scrutanised more in Egypt to make sure they're not hate preachers.

I wish other leaders would follow his brave stand.

I remember some years back Afghan Imams were brought to Jordan by the Jordanian government for something similar. Below are some links:

Maybe @BLACKEAGLE can add something.

Two years ago, Jordan began sending imams and combat-trained women into the villages of Afghanistan. Their mission was to preach moderate Islam to Afghan women. The king, as it turns out, believes women were the key to changing the mindset of Afghan villagers who might otherwise embrace the Taliban or al Qaeda.

"The people who I think really hold the power in the village, those that are going to make an impact, are the women, and nobody's talking to them," the king said. "I had a really good battalion commander who is now in charge of a special forces brigade who said, 'Look, send me imams and send me combat women and I'll make a difference.'"

So he did, and the experiment was deemed so successful that today the Jordanians are making efforts to replicate the practice with U.S. combat teams.

Jordanian Engagement Team Imams share with Afghans

Imams with the Jordanian Armed Forces, Jordanian Engagement Team, met with village elders, Mullahs and Afghan National Security Forces from Paktika and Khowst Provinces June 11, 2013.

The Jordanian Imams, leaders or teachers of the Muslim religion, have been working on engagement teams since 2006 and spreading the Amman message, a calling for tolerance and unity in the Muslim world.

Jordan's King Abdullah II first stated the Amman message, Nov. 9, 2004. It is based upon points of unanimous concensus from approximately 500 leading Islamic scholars and leaders world wide and are what Jordan's military engagement efforts are based upon.

"We want to make sure peace and prosperity prevail in Afghanistan," said Capt. Imam Sabri Ahmad Ali Alqudah, senior Imam with the Jordanian Engagement Team based out of Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. "We give assistance with Islam doctrine to the scholars and people of Afghanistan, as well as members of the [Afghan National] Army."

Through the use of radical Islamic doctrine, the Taliban has been gaining recruits which in turn causes strain for Afghan National Security Forces and Mullahs alike.

The Mullahs and village elders expressed their wish for the Imam's message to help keep that from happening.

"We all agree with the Jordanian Muslim scholars," expressed Mullah Izhar Udin, a religious scholar from Khowst, Afghanistan. "We need the Imams to tell the Mullahs [supporting the Taliban], to prove to them, that the reason they are killing people is wrong."

"We want the people to stop the competition, stop the fighting and have peace for all parties involved," stated said Capt. Imam Sabri. "To be a good nation, people need to do the right things, stay away from the bad as was stated by Allah."

Delivering that message and preventing the Taliban from misusing Islamic doctrine to gain members, is the drive behind Jordan's use of religious outreach and Teams.

"My two Imams and I came from Jordan to help and assist [the people of Afghanistan] in recommendation, consultation and clarification of Islamic doctrine and the Amman message," said Maj. Abdel Latif, the officer in charge of the JET. "I would like for the commanders, Mullahs, village elders and citizens [of Afghanistan] to come together and put their hands together to build a better future for Afghanistan."

Dude the hell are you smoking?! Alsisi say that in his speeches, yet his appointed Sheik, Ali Jumaah preach to the military force that the people standing against the military rule are "Khwarij" and its allowable to kill them. Many sheiks say that Alsisi is appointed by God on TV yet no one scrutinize them.

One word to sisi, give us back our "rooooz"

From the article:
The UAE is offering religious training for more than 17,000 Afghan mosque imams, including women preachers and preachers for the police and army, which contribute to promoting tenets of moderate Islam and security across Afghanistan,” Othmani said.

Why not send them to Saudi first?

What's your problem? Islam originates in what is now KSA and Arabia as a whole. Sunni, Shia, Sufism, Ibadi etc. Practically all sects originate in KSA/Arabia. Only fitting that they learn from the most knowledgeable of clerics and most prestigious Islamic universities. The locals themselves want it whether in Afghanistan or elsewhere.

Tell us what REALLY HAPPPENED? Why did the UAE kick you out?

So much nonsense in one thread.

yes and that 's crazy.
i was reading a Belgium newspaper few days ago (Belgium is the champion of number of jihadis): it could probably be linked to the feeling by some extremists that Belgium (other countries in Europe) have a very bad feeling towards muslims , and for exemple making laws to forbid even veil in public places or even universities (like in France : lot of women have been fired from university for this reason).

A European trying to give lessons to others about peace. You try to spread your democracy by bombing countries that had never attacked you, killed thousands, side with militants to overthrow regimes and put the country under chaos. And when all that happens you blame the people of that country for their current state than yourselves.

I think atheism also plays a part. A town in France proposed a law that would make it illegal (or forbid) the public display of religious symbols.
