During the working trip to Lviv region, President Poroshenko handed over certificates 40 medical Humvees to the AFU military.
“All forty vehicles will be transferred immediately to the brigades in the ATO area. And from the first day they will work for the Ukrainian army, the Ukrainian warrior,” the Head of State noted. He expressed gratitude to Laurence Platt, Executive Vice President of the AM General for International Defense Programs, who was present in the meeting, for this important contribution to our warriors.
According to the President, it is not a coincidence that the transfer of medical Humvees that will save lives and health of the Ukrainian soldiers takes place exactly in the International Center for Peacekeeping and Security in Lviv region.
The Head of State reminded that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had gained invaluable combat experience in the battles with the Russian aggressor. “There are not so many armies that have gone through the hell of such battles that fell to the lot of our soldiers. And I am proud of the Ukrainian warriors,” he said.
The Head of State added: “We have something to share with our international partners and friends. The exchange of experience is constantly taking place here in the International Center for Peacekeeping and Security”. According to him, not only soldiers, but also senators and congressmen, leaders of countries-partners, ministers and ambassadors, commanders of the armed forces and other official foreign military delegations visit this center. “And everytime we hear their approvals, a very high evaluation of the changes that are taking place in the Ukrainian army, their admiration for the courage of the Ukrainian soldiers,” the President noted.
The Head of State said that with the help of Ukraine’s partner, the United States, a unique center of simulation modeling was created: due to the modern software, combat operations are modeled on the computer simulators, actions of an individual soldier are being worked out, as well as staff procedures of the battalion-brigade level.
In her turn, U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch emphasized that since the first day of Ukraine’s independence and over the last years, after the aggression of Russia, USA had supported Ukraine in the defense of its sovereignty.
“Here in Yavoriv, the preparation goes on. The forces of USA, Ukraine and the countries-allies work together to create a program of comprehensive preparation. And this is only a part of the assistance in the amount of 800 million dollars provided by the U.S. to Ukraine for training and combat equipment,” she noted.
“Most importantly, this helps lay the foundation for the long-term readiness of the Armed Forces, while also providing an opportunity to improve the training of troops in order to meet the threats in the east of Ukraine with dignity,” the Ambassador added.
Marie Yovanovitch noted that 40 modern vehicles equipped for medical care were officially provided today allowing to increase the level of reaction and readiness. “These ‘ambulances’ are a symbol of our continuous, committed support to improve Ukraine’s ability to preserve its most valuable resource — courageous and committed men and women who protect the freedom of their state,” she added.

The President noted that 37 of 46 frontline Heroes of Ukraine are from the Armed Forces. In general, for the manifestation of courage and heroism, 14,173 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were awarded. Of these, 2,320 — posthumously.
The attendees paid tribute to the fallen Ukrainian heroes with a moment of silence.
The President stressed that “the revived Armed Forces of Ukraine day by day increase their combat potential and their combat capabilities”. At the same time, he said that over the past two years, more than a hundred thousand contractors have joined the army: about seventy thousand last year, more than thirty one thousand this year.
“We have refused partial mobilization. And, by the way, I would like to remind you once more that such a change would not have become a reality without the Minsk agreements,” Petro Poroshenko said.
The President stressed that today, an operational reserve of more than 135 thousand soldiers with combat experience had been created, “who have passed the frontline and are ready to return there if necessary”.
