In Boryspil International Airport, President Petro Poroshenko has welcomed the U.S. Air Force plane with the first lot of American armored vehicles.

Humvees were delivered to Ukraine pursuant to the U.S. decision on sending the defense means to Ukraine. Overall, 10 heavily armored vehicles were delivered. They will be equipped with Ukrainian weapons and then, 8 of them will be conveyed to the units of highly mobile airborne troops and 2 will be sent to the special units of the Security Service of Ukraine. The President has handed the certificates for these vehicles to the commanders of the abovementioned units.

Overall, the US is planning to supply 230 Humvees, 30 of them heavily armored. Another two lots with 20 heavily armored vehicles will have been delivered to Ukraine by April and the rest 200 vehicles will be sent within 45 days.

In the course of the meeting ceremony, the President noted that the provision of the given equipment had demonstrated real support from the United States in the issue of struggle for territorial integrity and sovereignty. "Comprehensive dialogue between Kyiv and Washington, as well as the provision of support for Ukraine by the United States are a real evidence of strategic partnership between our countries," the Head of State said.

The President has expressed gratitude to the American party and everyone involved in sending and receiving the cargo for the prompt work that will help save lives of Ukrainian soldiers. "On behalf of the people of Ukraine, I would like to express gratitude to the United States for consistent and firm position on the settlement of the conflict in Donbas. For recognizing Russia a country that carries out aggression against Ukraine. For the initiative and persistence in the matter of sanctions. For the solidarity with us and leadership in the elaboration of single position of the entire Euro-Atlantic community," the Head of State noted.

"We are strongly aiming at political and diplomatic settlement of interstate conflict in Donbas. However, due to constant violations of the ceasefire regime, the enemy makes us intensify the efforts on enhancing our defense capacity. Still, our resources are restricted. Thus, military-technical assistance from the USA and other countries is timely and increasingly necessary," the Head of State emphasized.

The President is hopeful that these vehicles will ensure reliable protection of our militaries and increase their combat capabilities. "I am confident that Ukrainian officers and soldiers will use these vehicles with maximum efficiency," Petro Poroshenko said.

The President has noted that it was not the first equipment provided by the USA. Our soldiers already use modern means of digital secure communications, counter-battery radars, night vision devices, robotic demining systems and medical equipment.

The President has examined the vehicles and the Ukrainian military module that will complement them. Having examined the Humvee, Petro Poroshenko noted: "Behind the wheel, I understood that it is an extremely efficient and powerful military vehicle long-awaited by the Ukrainian army".

HMMWV or Humvee is a High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle. Civilian adaptation of this vehicle is called Hummer.

We should send our M60E3 patton tank to ukraine, we have 800 of those sitting in Amy depot...

I dont know why they keep it in depot, even the National guard were using the Abrams now, we should, maybe send 200 of those and sell another 200 to Ukraine, we still have 400 left for drone target

Then we should get rid of our F16 too
No need to send anything major, keep the war going. Let this war go on for a few more years and Putin won't even have enough for milk.

Ceasefire agreement is not working and even now attacks are being carried out. Now there will be 2 Victory Day parades . one in Moscow and another in Ukraine.

lol actually this is a lose-lose situation for Russia whether or not they Win, Draw or Lost the war in Ukraine..

If they win, the province broke away will be ask to join the Russian Federation, if the Russian Accept it, then they will be hit with a large reconstruction bill, if they dont, the provice would go back to Ukraine.

If they lose, then they lose both face and money, tho not as much as they will lose had the sanction continue

If the war keep on going, they will lose their whole economy system..

well, that's why if you are 5'10, don't play in the NBA. Also, yes, this is a dig at Putin's height, I'm going there.

U.S. hands over armored military vehicles to Ukraine
KIEV, Ukraine — The United States has delivered 10 armored vehicles to Ukraine as part of a military support program intended to assist the fight against Russian-backed separatist forces in the country's east.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said Wednesday at a handover ceremony at Kiev's Borispol airport that more Humvees were to be delivered within 45 days. Poroshenko's office has said the U.S. is set to eventually provide 230 Humvees.

President Obama's administration has said it will provide Ukraine's military with $75 million in nonlethal aid, but has refrained from offering lethal equipment despite calls from Congress to do so.

Ukraine received 10 Humvees as part of an overall $75 million non-lethal military defense aid from the U.S. at Boryspil airport on March 25. Overall the aid package includes 230 Humvees, medical supplies, unarmed Raven drones, counter-mortar radar and night vision devices.

US pledges Ukraine to deliver 100 more armored Humvees in July - watch on - uatoday.tv
The first 10 US military Humvees have been delivered to Ukraine in late March

Washington has pledged to deliver another 100 of these armoured Humvees to Ukraine next month. These pictures are from March this year, when President Petro Poroshenko welcomed the first 10 such vehicles during a ceremony at an airport near Kyiv.

The US Department of Defence said the military equipment was part of a broader assistance package to Ukrainian government forces and the border guard service. Dozens of US paratroopers are already training Ukrainian soldiers and some USD 75 million in non-lethal aid has been pledged by America – which includes surveillance drones, first-aid kits and radar systems.

The new support was announced following Thursday's NATO meeting in Brussels, where Ukraine's Defence Minister Stepan Poltorak and his US counterpart Ashton Carter held talks as part of the Ukraine-NATO Council Commission. Carter emphasized that the United States, together with its allies, "remains committed to supporting Ukraine in its effort to define its own course as a sovereign, democratic nation,"

Both officials discussed Russia's aggression in Ukraine's Donbas region, with Carter commending Ukraine's efforts toward implementing the Minsk peace agreements despite Russia's destabilizing actions.

The Committee on Appropriations of the U.S. House of Representatives has drawn up a bill foreseeing the transfer of $150 million as the security assistance initiative for Ukraine, 112.Ukraine TV Channel has reported.

"The funds to remain available until September 30, 2017. The funds will be available to provide assistance, including training, equipment and lethal weapons of a defensive nature," TV Channel said on Friday.

The funds could be sent to support, including support to the military and national security forces of Ukraine.

The sum of security assistance for Ukraine was halved compared to the sum outlined in the U.S. defense budget in 2016 when it was $300 million.

The bill is to be passed by the U.S. House of Representatives and eventually the U.S. president is to approve it.
