SRINAGAR: Two people died and at least 25 others were injured Saturday as government forces fired tear gas and clashed with protesters demanding freedom from Indian control in held Kashmir.

A police officer said a young man was killed when police and paramilitary soldiers tried to stop protesters from marching to a village in Shopian district.

In another incident, a 25-year-old man died from pellet injuries in Anantnag district following clashes between police and protesters.

A prolonged curfew, communication blackouts and a tightening crackdown have failed to stop some of the largest protests in Kashmir against Indian rule in recent years, triggered by a rebel commander's killing on July 8.

Since then, tens of thousands of people have defied security restrictions, staged protests and clashed with government forces on a daily basis to seek an end to Indian rule.

At least 70 civilians have been killed and thousands injured, mostly by government forces firing bullets and shotguns at stone-throwing protesters. Two policemen have been killed and hundreds of government forces have been injured in the clashes.

Several militant groups have for decades fought Indian soldiers — currently numbering around 500,000 — deployed in the disputed region. Most Kashmiris want an end to Indian rule and favour independence or a merger with Pakistan.

Such barbarism will not stop anti india sentiment as it has already been 2 months yet things have gone from bad to worse. India should stop slaughter of innocent people and try to make small compromises such as withdrawing at least army from the region and deploy police force instead. Unfortunate when you have a mass murderer as a PM then only thing you can expect is mass slaughter.

India already withdrawn Army from the valley two years ago
Thanks to the stupidity of that morons in five districts .Army will again going to deploy in those areas .

They asked for it and they got it .

Trust me ,if they use their usual methods that implemented to attack poor police against the Army .It would be much worse .

They mentioned Pakistan because of the cross border terrorism .
Otherwise they are not a subject in this matter.

That's the basic and core problem . If India is unwilling to take one step back so Pakistan will also not take one step back. Which in turn proves my point the only people that will suffer are the people of Kashmir. And it won't be long that Pakistan will start the proxy war against India . Like Pakistan used to do in 1990 era. The ground and stage is set.As local people are getting irritated by Indian occupation forces. I am sure India don't want it's economic success to halt due to this.
So better both nations resolve the issue then bleed each other.
