The US does not desire Turkey to own so much power, does not matter if it is some political power, or economical or military. Hence the trade between US and Turkey only accounts about $10-$15B.. And hence the US refuses to give their high tech military products or even their ToTs.

And hence they would certainly veto our UNSC proposal.

Yet China and Russia see and well know that Turkey is slowly shifting away from the western block, and thus they are pouring money into our economy.

Thus Russia is right now creating a whole nuclear industry for us (not only 1 simple nuclear reactor) with the latest state of the art techs.

Thus China is taking the investment of the rail systems of Turkey, which is also in their interest though (Beijing to Istanbul, then to Berlin and London).

Thus they offered to give us ToT of their missile defense system, thus they send our satellites for far cheaper prices than normal.

They want us to become more and more powerful, because they know our will of becoming totally independent on anyone on earth.

And the US fears for this possibility as it foolishly thinks that 'dependency' is the only thing what makes Turkey a part of the west.

In that case, Turkey has to resign from NATO. But would it be in turkey'S interest to do that, because one side, Turkey demands to be in EU other side is the UN permanent seat, without any nuclear weapon, and credible deployment of UN peace keeping force. Something has to be compromised.

No, Turkey's place is the west. We are by all means a modern western country that will eventually be accepted to the EU.

We can be in NATO and still have allies such as Russia and China.

I also don't understand how getting out of NATO would help Turkey for anything.. It would not change the opinion of US and France on Turkey's possible UNSC membership.

It would but make Turkey a hostile nation for all the west all of a sudden. Why would we want that?

The white house wants to fix its relationships with Iran even though the republicans in the congress do not seem to be willing for that matter. It is all because of that Iran will keep existing, it is not going anywhere. It is a big economy, and it is successful in science.

And economy and science are what matters to the west for relationships. Then the "armament" comes, which turns "friends" into "allies".

There is no way that the west and US will give up on Turkey's alliance or friendship. And they will have to keep increasing the respect towards Turkey over time, after we acquire high nuclear tech, long attitude high range rockets, more robust industry, space industry etc.

Turkey was a pest for the west 10 years ago, and now we are like considered as any big countries in europe.

We will go far beyond that as we have the capacity for it. Our importance will have to be accepted by countries like France that still gazes down to us.

And then, we will be invited to UNSC by those people.

But

Turkey is probably never going to get into the UNSC.

1. If any Muslim country has to get in (by religious consideration) - it will be one of the Arabs. Odds are - Saudi Arabia.
2. Turkey is a Secular country, so you don't get the benefit there even if the criteria were to be added.


Lastly. Get in line. The next country to join UNSC will be India. Period. If we can't get in, you can be sure, you're not going to make it.

So I don't know why Erdogan is worrying over this.

The only country that is almost certain to get a UNSC seat in the future is India. In 20-30 yrs time there will be such a huge gap between the big-3 (China, US, India) and the rest of the world in all dimensions of national power that a UNSC without India would be illegitimate.

Why does it matter that there is no Islamic state? UN is strictly a non-religious platform. The victors of WW2 decided from 1945 that they will dictate international politics. They won't give up power, you can forget it.

If a country does not like that, they can leave the UN, but it just won't happen since they will be doing it alone.

UN loses legitimacy by not having a Muslim country in the UN security council. Muslims make up more than 1/6 of the world population.
