no, actually women are more free now. for example, religious women weren't allowed to attend universities due their scarf (wasted potential) while even in Europe it was possible to do so, now they finally can too in Turkey due akp. Current govt is also trying to attract more women to the workforce through improving daycare and such. But of course you can also choose to hop on the hypetrain called western/foreign media and only believe what they tell you.
Although he never described women as 'only baby making machines' or of the sort, but even though Erdogan might sound like unnecessary messing with people's private life, he somewhere has a point. Look at the developed world, so many, men and women, are after careers that there is lack of new blood, add to that the aging factor, plus the need to bring in migrants, in the developed countries and you have a recipe to worry about. Erdogan urges couples to make at least 3 babies, but if the same was said by European leaders people would applaud them for combating the aging and shortage of birth problems. Turkey's average age is already slowly increasing while we are not even developed yet by a long shot like a west european country.
