This is only a testbed setup, they are going to intregate it to Akinci. Mine opinion it is all tested and evaluated other whise why put the radar on the F-16 in 2023? The same radar will be used on Akinci.

BUFRIS the radar of TFX, much bigger radar then MURAD.

@SQ8 It may be worth trying to leverage a V-upgrade deal for the Block-52+ with the U.S. to get approval to apply OZGUR to the F-16A/Bs.

Basically, F-16V for the 18 Block-52+ and OZGUR for the F-16A/Bs.
There are rumours that Pakistan will manufacture Akinci drones locally and that we've also developed an indegenous AESA radar

Is there any chance we could see Pakistani AESA radars in our Akinci drones?

The thread even mentions "Pakistan specific variants"

It would be interesting to know how much of the existing OZGUR is reliant on the infrastructure inside an F16 and if indeed there could ever be a OZGUR variant of the JF17 ie JF17-TP with Turkish subsystems ?

Turkey building its down ASEA radar is a significant step forward

I wonder how it compares to the newer American variants and how much of its components are indigenous

this will certainly help the TFX programme in the long run

by 2030 Turkey will emerge as a true Global Arms Manufacturer with the ability to rival the likes of France, Spain and Italy in modern top tier technology

and by 2040 could close in on Germany and UK

how many F16 can get the OZGUR upgrade?

Much better then the American variants. American radar are based on GAas and the Turkish GAan based, GAan radar use more power and get hotter them the counter parts so cooling the radar is difficult and thats one of the reason why it takes long to produce. Longer range with more power. American radar are still made of GAas, maybe in the future when they decide to go for GAan.

Spain is nothing to compare with Turkiye in defense Industry

as of 2022 Turkiye has more military projects than Italy and Germany

by 2030 , Turkiye could close in on France and UK ( except nuclear weapon )

F-16 Block70 use American APG-83 AESA Radar with GaAS technology
Aselsan MURAD Radar with superior GAN technology

and ASELSAN designs and manufactures technologically critical microwave modules and components in dedicated special areas..... only a few countries in the world

-- high performance transmitter
-- transmitter/receiver T/R modules
-- front-end modules
-- filters
-- frequency converters
-- power amplifier modules
-- digital frequency discriminators (DFD)
-- logarithmic video amplifiers (DLVA)
-- monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMIC)

nothing compared to Turkey? bit of a over exaggeration dont you think

Navantia was selected by Turkey for its LHD programme and Navantia has built 2 x Carriers, 3 x Amphibious assault ships + AEGIS FFG in recent years

Spain is also the final assembly for all of Airbus defence and space aircraft, Spain has a very good military industrial base

Italy is more advanced than Spain by a huge margin with Leonardo and Fincantieri amongst the top defence contractors in the World, certainly always in the top 50

France has a high tech industries and naval shipbuilding is too advanced but I would put them behind Germany

UK is off course no question World leading and amongst the VERY best, TFX will join in 2030 and Turkey is looking to Rolls Royce for engines so beyond 2040

no one is discounting Turkey they are doing extremely well but they have a long way to go before they start matching Top Tier European Contractors

There are 750+ Turkish Military projects ,, Spain , Germany , İtaly not even close

I think you are confusing the number of military projects with technological knowhow, gene pool of knowledge and revenue

the combined revenues of Top 3 Turkish companies Aselsan, Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and Roketsan is less than $4.5 billion in 2022 less than Indra of Spain which actually is a IT defence contractor

Leonardo of Italy $15 billion

I think you are confusing the number of military projects with technological knowhow, gene pool of knowledge and revenue

Turkiye itself develops all those military projects with its own technological knowhow
only British BAE Systems technical assistance for the TFX Project

thanks to Turkish defense Industry technological knowhow between 1975-2022

only one example
Turkiye itself has developed GaN based AESA Radars , MURAD , EIRS and CAFRAD in 15 years with technological knowhow of ASELSAN

on the other hand Italy,UK,Germany,France together develops most of major military projects

the combined revenues of Top 3 Turkish companies Aselsan, Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and Roketsan is less than $4.5 billion in 2022 less than Indra of Spain which actually is a IT defence contractor

Leonardo of Italy $15 billion

We care about self sufficiency by 95% in 2030
Italy,Spain,Germany not even close

and everybody will see what about revenue of Turkish defense Industry in 2030

only one example
USA blocked sale of 30 T-129 Attack Helicopters to Pakistan ( $1,5 billion )

Turkish TS-1400 turbojet Engine will power T-629 Attack Helicopter and T-625 Utility Helicopter for export to brother-friendly Countries

Problem with F-16 in PAF service is that it is limited by end user agreements with the USA. Resources are better spent on more JF-17 and J-10s, which have no limitations on use and have naval strike capacity, IMO.
