Indeed. As long as Turkey doesnt transform especially into high tech production and export, i don't see how the current economical setup will carry us to the 10th position. Top10 is highly exaggerated if you ask me. By 2023 we should be happy if we can get in the top 15.

Not only that but if we wan't to compete in the high tech sector internationally we need to have a indigenous Operating system and thus have a company which has the business model of Apple, but build everything within Turkiye.

And just bringing this out, none of the other countries has to endure sabotages like in Turkiye, if only a quater of the stuff which happened in Turkey happened in an other top 10 country their economy would be more hurt than what Turkiye endures now.

Not this ''whole world is against us'' logic again. :disagree: I would understand if we was in the same situation as Iran but cmon man, why always trying to find guilt in others?

Not the whole world is against us stuff(not even talking about that stuff), I am talking about big enterprises benefited from the government. This is something which has been going since the 50s.

Its all excuses, in fact the only thing that we can compete the half way in international markets are the products of those Enterprises you are talking about.
I assume you are talking about company like Koc, Sabanci etc. since your talking like a mystery.

Can I ask you how well is your historical political and business relations history with government since the 1950s

The topic is about Turkeys economic performance of 2014 no?

Wait, is this like anno, where everyone's economy starts from scratch at each start of the year like starting a new game? I don't think so we are only delivering now what has been prepared before, be it educational ,economic or stability.

Well then the years of growth are exceptions in this case if you say that the root of bad performance are some conspiracys from 50s.

Dreams and realities

An analysis from an economist

1- Average annual export growth of 2005-2014 period was 10.5%. Export growth figures described this year's as 3.7%. This year export figures emerged as a very low figure of past 10 years export (1/3 of past 10 years).
2- When we examine the export growth reduction like 2013 in the last 30 years, we see that we did 17.74% higher export in the following year to compensate for the decline. However, 2014`s export growth is 1/5 of the average increase of the past years.
3- If want to be the top 10 economies, we are supposed to do at least 2% of the world's total exports.
4- The share of high-tech products exports have an obligation to be at least 12% to 15% among our total export.
5- The average share of agricultural exports in developed countries is between 1% to 2% while ours 14%.
6- We are obligated to export our products to larger markets without any negative affect of environmental and political events.
7- We must make much higher exports to the world largest importers, USA, China and Japan.
8- The vast majority of our food products exports must aim 330 million population in Europe not only Turkish population.
9- About $ 2 billion grain products we have imported should be exported by processing them with high technology like Italy, which would create more value to the Turkish economy.
10- And finally the half of 1 billion 648 million exports of our precious defense industry companies are made to only three countries. When we look at the remaining 167 countries, average exports to them is $ 5 million. This situation may negatively affect our defense industry companies in case of a crisis that may arise in the future, like Iraq or Russia and our companies can face serious problems.

Turkey and Iraq agree on natural gas pipeline project

Turkey and Iraq have agreed on a new natural gas pipeline project. Energy Minister Taner Yıldız visited Iraq on Sunday to attend 17th Turkey-Iraq Joint Economic Commission meeting, which is held again after 9 years break, and hold official talks about ongoing energy partnerships.

After Iraqi oil, Turkey will sell natural gas of Iraq to the world. Works of technical analysis on a new natural gas pipeline will start soon. According to economist Cemil Ertem, this natural gas corridor will be developed in the scope of the Southern Gas Corridor Project. Turkey also plans to build an industrial zone in Iraq. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed between Turkey and Iraq in Baghdad, which contains five new agreements to determine the areas of cooperation between two countries.

Two neighbours also agreed to increase Iraq's oil exports via Turkey's Ceyhan port. On the subject of exporting oil from Iraq, Yıldız said: "We wish the Kirkuk-Ceyhan Oil Pipeline to operate at full capacity." The Iraqi Minister of Oil Adil Abdul-Mahdi said that the government will increase the crude oil delivery to Turkey's Ceyhan port via pipeline to around 600 million barrels per day by April. "Turkey contributes to Iraq's development with investments in various sectors," he said. "We would like to thank Turkey for its support." Yıldız insisted that Turkey will continue to support Iraq and will increase humanitarian aid to the country.

The number of flights will also be increased between Iraq and Turkey. Also, a conference will be organized in Istanbul next month to promote investment opportunities in Iraq. A committee specialized on joint investments will be established as well.

Furthermore, Turkey has offered to sign a social security agreement to Iraq, regarding the obstacles of Turkish labor force and Turkish companies invested in Iraq faces.

An industrial zone in Iraq
With referecence to the MoU signed, Turkey will start to search for the possibilities to build a new industrial zone in Iraq and work on new customs gates will be sped up. An expert Turkish delegation wil visit Iraq in the coming days.

Power-generation ship to Basra

Turkey will send a power-generation ship to Basra, Energy Minister Taner Yıldız, Turkey's energy minister said on Sunday. "The ship will provide much-needed electricity for the city," Yıldız said at a press conference in Baghdad with his counterpart from Iraq.

"Basra currently has about 250 megawatts of electricity production capacity. The Turkish power ship will add 410 megawatts more," he said.

Turkey-based Karadeniz Holding is the developer, owner and operator of a fleet of power ships with an overall capacity of more than 1,100 megawatts. It currently has ships in Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan, Dubai and Ghana. A power ship is a special purpose naval vessel that generates electricity.
