A delegation of 18 Turkish officers have paid a visit to China and signed a historic agreement which paved the way for 1 million Chinese to visit Turkey every year.

The delegation was headed by former Prime Ministry official Muhammet Taha Gergerlioğlu, who met a number of officials from non-governmental organizations along with tourism representatives, bureaucrats and state governors.

The first Chinese group will visit Turkey in a few weeks and, likewise, Turkish visitors will pay a visit to China.

"If each and every one of the tourists would spend at least a thousand dollars; then it would be great revenue for our country," Gergerlioğlu said.

The number of foreign visitors visiting Turkey in 2015 decreased only slightly compared to tourist numbers for 2014, as 36.2 million tourists visited Turkey in 2015, marking just a 1.61 percent decrease compared to 2014.

The tourists with the largest numbers visiting Turkey from a single country were Germans with 5.6 million.

LOL Turks need to fill up tourists, since their main european and russian tourists are gone because of Erdögans islamic policy.

Asian tourists are more courteous and kind than Europeans (and especially Russian tourists!!!!!!!). Russian tourists behave like they own the whole place! But Asians are much more respectful towards locals. I hope that Chinese are the same.

But I have a question: Do the Chinese government actually decides how many Chinese citizens can visit a country? Don't they have a right of free movement? Do you have something like a quota system for countries in China?

All in all, I am against the expansion of the Turkish tourism sector. Tourism destroys our nature and wildlife in the Mediterranean cost region.

We do have a right of free movement like any other nation in the world.
There's no "quota".
So I was a bit WTF at this piece of news.

But it could've something to do with ease of visa applications to encourage tourist groups. Other than that, I have no idea what this one million tourist thing is about.
