Netanyahu’s annexation pledge “dangerous trend,” Pakistani delegation warns at extraordinary OIC meeting

Foreign ministers and diplomats of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) attend a conference in Jeddah on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019.

ISLAMABAD: The Israeli Prime Minister’s unilateral announcement of his intention to annex territories in the occupied West Bank as a re-election promise, “is a dangerous trend and threatens world peace and security,” said Pakistan’s Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, Shafqat Mehmood, who led the country’s delegation during Sunday’s extraordinary meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi was not present at the meeting.

The 16th extraordinary meeting of its kind was called by the OIC Secretariat at the request of Saudi Arabia as Chair of the 14th Islamic Summit, following Netanyahu’s annexation pledge days ahead of a hotly contested election to be held on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by the Saudi Foreign Minister, Dr. Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Assaf, a press release stated.

Mehmood “appealed to OIC members, United Nations and the international community to revive their obligation toward the people of Palestine,” and added that “the UN and the OIC members should condemn such irresponsible announcements, being used as party slogans in the election campaign, which can jeopardize peace in the region.”

Furthermore, Mehmood drew strong comparisons between the “unspeakable suffering” of the Kashmiri and Palestinian people who shared a history of “over seven decades of occupation” and drew attention to the communications blackout and arrests taking place in Indian-administered Kashmir since August 5th, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi moved to abrogate the region’s special legal status.

Mehmood reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance that the establishment of a viable, independent and contiguous Palestinian state on the basis of internationally agreed parameters and with Jerusalem as its capital, was the “only way to bring peace and stability in Middle East.”

Turkey says Israel becoming 'racist, apartheid regime' with annexation plan

SEPTEMBER 15, 2019

ANKARA (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement of his intention to annex areas of the West Bank following next week’s elections shows Israel is becoming a “racist, apartheid regime”, Turkey’s foreign minister was quoted as saying on Sunday.

Netanyahu said on Tuesday he would annex the Jordan Valley, a swathe of the occupied West Bank that Israel captured in 1967 and which Palestinians want as part of a future state. The move alarmed Middle Eastern nations, European powers and Arab foreign ministers.

On Saturday, Turkey’s foreign ministry said the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) would convene in Jeddah on Sunday to discuss Netanyahu’s statement.

Speaking in Jeddah, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Netanyahu’s “embarrassing” plan was a “despicable” attempt to earn votes ahead of Tuesday’s election, and criticized what he called a lack of reaction from other Muslim countries.

“Israel, encouraged by the support of certain countries, is continuing its aggressive policies that are turning it into a racist, apartheid regime,” Cavusoglu was quoted as saying by the state-run Anadolu news agency.

“If the whole Muslim community had reacted together, the reckless plans, policies and behavior of the United States and Israel would never have reached this point,” Cavusoglu said.

Around 65,000 Palestinians and 11,000 Israeli settlers live in the Jordan Valley and northern Dead Sea area, the Israeli human rights group B’Tselem says. The main Palestinian city is Jericho, with some 28 villages and smaller Bedouin communities.

Turkey and Israel, former allies, have long been at odds over Israel’s policy toward the Palestinians and Jerusalem’s status. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan called for a summit of the OIC twice last year after U.S. President Donald Trump decided to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Turkey and Israel also expelled each other’s top diplomats last year during a dispute over clashes when dozens of Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces on the Gaza border. The two sides continue to trade with one another.

Dear Turkey, why waste your time? Arabs themselves don't wish to help Palestinians. Save your strength.
Maybe because the Palestinians are not Arabs in origin. Like Algeria or like Lebanon... Maybe that's why they've been an appetizer at Jordan's or Egypt's bargaining table with Israel for years.

I was not aware of that. I always assumed they fell under the broad category of "Arab".

I wanted to draw a general frame. When the governors of the global hegamons are destroyed, I hope this "common ideals and broad muslim society" will arise. Even if going on horrible work of manipulation and perception, everyone will understand our position in over time.

.
OIC should be renamed to BOI = bastards of Israel Isince Islamic govts are serving israels interests now

.
Someone tell these Arabs and their lackeys from Pakistan, Turkey and Iran that 8 million Kashmiris are already under siege from last 43 days, if this organization is really about Islamic countries and not about Arab problems then they should have convene such meeting on Kashmir weeks ago, but for Arabs Nationalists and dictators Kashmiris are not humans let alone Muslims.

support #FreeKashmir only then i will support your #FreePalestine.. No more support of Pakistanis should go to Arabs. Pakistanis should stay away from supporting Arabs on social media and other platforms until they condemn India or embrace India completely.

.
Turkish approach is just populist towards palestine problem. Noone cares about palestine in Turkey (sad but true) . it is a useful tool for so called islamist goverment(none of them practicing islam in their life).

Oh my boy... From 1055 to 1918, the land you lived in was under Turkish rule. Its some parts was ruled by Turkish feudal lords, such as the Zengi, even in politically disorganized periods.

Even after the first world war, the prime minister of Irak, or the chief of staff, all of them consisted of Ottoman cadres.

Dear arabized brother, you may be proud of your culture(even if it's a sh*thole todays). But we've protect it for 1000 years, what you're proud of. If we didn't protect your ancestors for 1000 years , probably, you would be an ardent defender of pan-iranism right now, not arabism. Before you vomit your hatred about the Turks, think about it.

i don't think so.

Bro, Palestine has been second in humanitarian aid and third in financial development aid for nearly 8-10 years. Before that, it was in first place.

Turkey provided $ 21 billion in financial aid to 170 countries for the period 2010-2016. 70 percent of the foreign aid was given to Arab countries, 9 percent to African countries, 5.5 percent to Turkish republics, 4.3 percent to Balkan countries and the remaining percentage to Asian countries. After 2016 period, the year-on-year increases of nearly 50% are observed.Turkey is one of the the top 5 largest country in the world in this field for many years.

Top 3 countries with taken the official financial aid are Syria (+20 billion dollars), Somalia (+1 billion dollars), Palestine (+1 billion dollars). A small anecdote: In the same period, 454 million dollars were provided to Egypt and half a billion dollars to Iraq.

On the humanitarian aid side, Turkey is the world leader for a long time. And the main share in these aid packages goes to especially the Arab populations such as the Syrian and Palestinians.

According to the Global Humanitarian Aid Report 2018, below is the graph of the countries that which are provide the most humanitarian aid and which are taken most aid.

While whole world creating an average of 25-26 billion dollars to help people every year , Turkey meets 30-35% of this figure alone. And almost all of the Turkish aid went to the African and Arab states, not to the Turkish states.

In terms of political support, due to Israel's inhumane stance in Gaza, almost all of the eastern Mediterranean and Middle East policies of Turkey have changed. Turkey was under a terrible cost due to support Palestine against Israil.

I respect your opinion, but I believe that Palestine is not a populist issue, but an issue that is not well managed.

Islamic rule*

An Islamic rule which would leave people like Atatürk fleeing. Therefore, my friend that is in dire need of re-arabization you need to understand that there is only one way forward.
