Opinions?

This is good for both nations. If we were not to so busy wallowing in corruption and mismanagement i'd hope our country would have the same deal with Turkey and Iran.

But Turks are majority Sunnis?

in the real world that doesn't matter, it only matters in the Saudi/Iran dynamic where both states exploit religious identity to try and retain control and influence of smaller states around them.m

So you know, even current account deficit is calculated without energy consumption scale on some point. I think we are at a better position with Iran on trade. It's goes with Russia too
Read the post that i quoted, the point is he claims that Turkey doesnt import much from Iran while in reality it imports way more than it exports.

.
Yeah, tell me why Turkey imports more from Iran than it exports?

Thats because this chart shows with gas and oil.

Türkçe biliyor musun ?

Evet, biliyorum

Read the post that i quoted, the point is he claims that Turkey doesnt import much from Iran while in reality it imports way more than it exports.

Thats not true, why are you doing this? I said "except for oil, gas and maybe an insignificant amount of other goods" Then you post a chart which shows gas and oil imports and then use it as an argument for Turkey importing a lot from Iran.

Our market is filled with Turkish goods when we have enough domestic produced products to to reach our demands.
Yes, you literally find anything that you want imported from Turkey and I mean it. Does your market sell Iranian goods? Does your government promote Iranian products?

. .
Well bottom line is the trade between Turkey and Iran benefits Iran way more in contrary to what you claim.

At the end of the day, only the trade balance counts, thus, you're right.

Look at these figures:

Denge = Balance

Speaking from our perspective: our trade relationship is always in favor of Iran.

However, this has changed last year (2016) for the first time:

If we compare Jan.-Aug. 2017 to Jan.-Aug. 2016, we'll see that our imports from Iran has (again) risen sharply.

Still, we have one big problem in our comparison. In the past, Turkey had helped Iran undermining the Western sanction regime by dealing with gold (import/export). This is the reason why the Turkish-Iranian trade is so extremely volatile.

I wish there was, but realistically this is all temporary and in line with temporary geopolitical events. The Barzani referendum, the coup etc.

Still, seeing that war fantasies between Turkey and Iran are non-existing is something good, you must admit.

Thats because most of your exports are not shown on the list because of the sanctions.
Im originally from a city in northwestern Iran that borders Turkey. There are thousands of Turkish trailers coming here every day. Have you ever seen an Iranian trailer in Turkey? If you ever visit the markets here you'll see its flooded with Turkish products. And Turkish products in Iran is much cheaper than in Turkey. Do you know why? Because when we sell you oil, you pay in Lira, we then spend the same money you paid us on Turkish goods. Or Turkish gold, and that doesnt show as export.

Simply not true.

We have never paid for Iranian gas with Liras. That's nearly impossible.
Dude Im, telling you this is 100% true, like every Iranian living in Turkish border cities knows this. How else are you going to pay us?

I just did a quick search on google and guess what I found?

Turkey, Iran’s biggest natural gas customer, has been paying Iran for its imports with Turkish lira, because sanctions prevent it from paying in dollars or euros.

Iranians then use those lira, held in Halkbank accounts, to buy gold in Turkey, and couriers carry bullion worth millions of dollars in hand luggage to Dubai, where it can be sold for foreign currency or shipped to Iran.

Halkbank had also been processing a portion of India’s payments for Iranian oil.

A provision of U.S. sanctions, made law last summer and implemented from February 6, effectively tightens control on sales of precious metals to Iran and prevents Halkbank from processing oil payments by other countries back to Tehran, bankers said.

“Halkbank can only accept payments for Turkish oil and gas purchases and Iran is only allowed to buy food, medicine and industrial products with that money,” one senior Turkish banker told Reuters.
