"Otokar, introduced its APC, TULPAR-S, in Eurosatory 2016, which was held in Paris June 13 - 17.

TULPAR-S stands out for its superior mobility, protection and amphibious capability. It is a tracked APC derived from the TULPAR multi-purpose armoured vehicle, a new APC platform meant to supplement the Altay MBT. The TULPAR-S is more compact, so as to enable for amphibious activity, but in of itself it still retains ample internal room and modular capability. It is powered by a 360hp inline six-cylinder diesel engine and can operate in different environmental conditions.

Otokar’s presence at Eurosatory with the TULPAR-S is a clear drive for the export market. Armies in a position to begin replacing legacy APC designs such as the M113 may be interested in the TULPAR.

TULPAR-S is a 15-ton amphibious tracked vehicle platform, first unveiled in the Weapon Carrier Vehicle configuration during IDEF 2015, in Istanbul.

The vehicle is able to operate in the worst environmental and terrain conditions and survive most common threats in the battlefield. It is able to cross deep water obstacles and swim in turbulent conditions with its amphibious capabilities.

TULPAR-S carries commander, driver and eight fully geared crew members. Access to the vehicle is through a hydraulically operated ramp, with an escape door at the rear of the vehicle. Driver and commander can access the vehicle through their hatches on the top deck.

Otokar's latest product has modular armor which allows the vehicle to be easily configured for added protection in different protection levels. TULPAR-S ballistic protection is supported with mine-resistant double-layer welded structure, shock absorbing floating floor, mine-blast resistant crew seats and spall liners in the crew cabin.

It was displayed in Eurosatory 2016 in the Armored Personnel Carrier configuration.

The company also participated in Erosatory 2016, world largest defense and security exhibition, with six different armored vehicles: Arma 8x8, Arma 6x6, Cobra II, Cobra and Ural.

Additionally, visitors were informed of Turkey's main battle tank Altay, developed by Otokar as prime contractor.

Owned by the Koç Group, Otokar exports to some 30 countries on 5 continents. The company analyzes the different requirements and expectations of almost 50 clients, and it swiftly creates solutions to meet these needs.

The company officials said over 29,000 of its vehicles were in active duty in very different geographies and risky zones around the world."

. . .
It seems like a really good replacement for our old APCs. What do you gentlemen think ?

I don't think even Turkey is planning to use this design to replace all of its old APCs. It seems FNSS' ACV series - derived from the M113 - will form the backbone of their APC force. We just need to stick with the Talha.

It's being assumed that with the introduction of Altay, IFVs will get replaced too, to supplement Altay on the battlefield. Both companies developed these IFVs by their own initiative.

Our Talha APC is based on M113 and there are not that many differences between Talha and M113. You stated that TULPAR-S is derived from M113 and it seems to be a very highly evolved M113 but Talha looks like a modified M113.

Our FNSS developed "ZMA-30" aka "Korkut" is an 30 tonnes huge monster which is based on M-113. New FNSS IFV project named as Kaplan-20 and Kaplan-30, additions to Otokar's Tulpar family don't have any connection with M-113 brother.

I dare not comment on anything Turkish ;)

Isn't FNSS a JV with BAE, who would be the OEM of M113?

It could have been from a predecessor entity in Turkey (license producing the M113) that was absorbed into FNSS.

No, brother. Tulpar is a purely indigenous product. Otokar developed, it with the experiences they gained while developing the Altay tank.

FNSS's Kaplan derived from M113.

It was a Joint Venture FMC and Nurol, company name was FNSS.
later FMC merged with BMY - Harsco and restructured as United Defense LP (UDLP). In 1997, United Defense LP is acquired by Carlyle Group and FMC Corporation is withdrawn from the field of defense. BAE Systems has acquired the shares of UDLP in the same year.

So, now BAE holds %49 of the shares of FNSS.

Otokar Cobra ll must atleast be considered by PA especially after considering the fact that PA already operates Otokar Cobra.
