Trump says U.S. considering permanent military presence in Poland

SERIOUS you show pictures of Afghanistan 10 years BEFOR USSR take care of it to praise what you traitors did there? MUHAHAHa

Stop sucking the American boot.

You lost in Afghanistan collectively. Today the Taliban rule the roost. All US/NATO soldiers can do is grow opium and hide in Kabul. Don't you even utter Afghanistan. There is no point in blaming Russia.

If Poland wants to become a US colony they will soon find out as the Japanese are. There is a high price to be paid for becoming an American colony.

.
Clearly I'm not speaking with the best or brightest, on the contrary. When someone calls people dogs and shit they lost the argument.

1. The facts are tens of thousands of 'mujahadeen' were forighners, many were Pakistani.

2. The Soviet Union built up almost all the infrastructure in Afghanistan.

3. The Taliban, US, gulf states, and Pakistan are responsible for today's Afghanistan.

4. You are a Turk, it's hilarious watching a Turk try--keyword try, to trash Russia. Russians contributed more to science, literature, engineering, philosophy, art, music and modern engineering then almost anyone. We were traveling to space while you were picking your nose

All those things and the Afghans still hate you.

By the way Afghans love Turks. Shows once again how the Russkies fail at helping their fellow man.

.

The USSR was in Afghanistan long before 1979 building up the infrastructure. Yes muhahaha.

.
Under Soviet-friendly government of Najibullah, Afghanistan was a modern country, where girls could wear miniskirts on the streets and where the street looked like any East European street, where children went to school rather than learned how to fight.

And now with an US-backed government, all have been ruined. Afghan must be so happy.
 mini skirts means "progress"? Does that mean a completely naked girl is the most progressive person in the world?

Animals wear no cloths, must be very "progressive".

As regards Soviet invasion/occupation of Afghanistan, the Soviets like all imperialists that invaded Afghanistan made the mistake of trying to force their way of life and worldview on a people (Afghans) that know no obedience to any central authority except Allah (God).

The only people who united Afghanistan in recent times were the Taliban because their intentions were righteous. They disarmed most of Afghanistan and destroyed 95% of the opium. This is why they were overthrown by Nato.

I don't know how much Afghans "love" Turks but many Afghans also love burqas, beating women, opium, terrorism and acid attacks

If you're "loved" by those people you win the Darwin Award

.
Good idea. Move the US base in Germany to Poland.

.
You are slower then I previously thought, the Soviet Union built public transportation, power plants, schools and factories in Afghanistan. It was was religious extremists with US and gulf support that ruined Afghanistan.

Unless now you are claiming the "commies" forced women to wear bedsheets over their bodies and then the commies destroyed everything they built.

Posting pics of Kabul's elite class doesn't mean entire Afghanistan was like that...When more than 99% of Afghanistan was the same as it is today; what social media warriors do is they post some pics of Kabul's elite class's miniskirts and tell the world that entire Afghanistan was a land of milk and honey until evil USA, Pakistan KSA and capitalists stepped in. Shorter the length of the miniskirt, more the progress.

Social media warrior, here are the real statistics of that "Golden era" of Afghanistan under Soviet supervision

Literacy rate: 18%(In reality 90% were illiterate) Present day32%

Average life expectancy: 40 years Present day64 years

Litracy rate youth females: 11% Present day32%

Infant mortality rate: 170 Present day52

I can go on and on to bust the myth of Soviet fanboys.
The problem is not that these images are inaccurate. Indeed, some people in Afghanistan did live the lives of those pictures. But this was a tiny segment of the population, comprising a Kabul middle class that enjoyed the support and patronage of a King who built a bubble of prosperity in Kabul but kept the rest of the country in utter poverty – part of the reason for the 1973 coup and the 1978 Revolution.
In the 1979 – at the end of Afghanistan’s “Golden Age“ – only 18% of Afghans were literate – and average life expectancy was only just above 40, meaning that half of Afghans died before that age.

The average Afghan was certainly not wearing miniskirts and attending Kabul University, nor were they taking fashionably-dressed vacations to the mountains in imported cars. This was a very small urban elite and middle-class segment of society shown in the pictures of Kabul in the 1970s, and one that did not reflect the conditions of the majority of Afghans.
............. miniskirts or lack thereof do not prove the existence of women’s freedom or civilization in a country.

@maximuswarrior @Nilgiri @Desert Fox

So the miniskirt is the new gauge to judge progress of a nation? The shorter the length the better!

A street in Kabul or the campus of Kabul University does not represent Afghanistan in it's entirety---Yes it was just the university campus where signs of "modernity" could be felt.
Miniskirts might look like a sign of "progress" to you, but to the Afghans(majority) it is a shame.
Ever wonder why the champion of liberalism couldn't do that despite more than 17 years of occupation? Because the people won't accept it.

Social media is a powerful tool for propaganda---propaganda which you have been fed.
A picture of the university campus is more than enough to make you believe about the availability of bikini car wash services in Panjsher.

Afghanistan was a tribal, conservative and agrarian society, which bore no resemblance with Europe whatsoever. Apparently, the only "progress" which was made never left the elite circles of Kabul. The ordinary Afghan never accepted cultural and physical invasion of his country, just like you never accepted US intervention. Or people must accept Russian intervention and resist US intervention for them to be the "good guys"?

Who are you to enforce your way of life upon others, even when they outright reject it? Afghanistan was never the commie utopia which you think it was. In reality, the Russians wiped out entire villages with frogfoots and hinds during that war of prosperity of yours.

You managed to salvage some dignity thanks to the Geneva accords otherwise there would have been a massacre of the conscripts heading towards the Oxus.
@Desert Fox @Nilgiri @django @Nein

1 Trillion$ worth of natural resources are tempting for imperialists.

Slogans of Progress, friendship, prosperity and socialism are for deception. Afterall, Lithium, copper, iron ore and gold are worth a lot more than people.
They took a large chunk of nature's hidden secrets with them after the invasion. As of now, everyone from the Chinese to Russians to Americans can't let go of these hidden treasures.

And posting an isolated pic on social media for mass generalization these days is the new trend. I can post pics of women in bikinis in Pakistan...doesn't prove that we have become Europe.

Simple facts, the Soviet Union never controlled all of Afghanistan, only some of the large cities. Tap dance all you want around it but the Infastructure, basic human rights, education and quality of life improved in areas under Soviet control and subsequently got worse after the Soviets withdrew and gradually started improving the past decade or so.

Nearly all the infrastructure in Afghanistan was built with Soviet help and went to complete chaos after the Soviets left.

Here is a look at apartments and other modern infrastructure which houses tens of thousands and was built by the Soviets, hard to imagine that so many "elites" existed in such a small area especially in Afghanistan

Again utter nonsense with no references either. Firstly life expectancy gerneraly goes up over time everywhere due to better and more vaccinations, easier access to clean water, hospitals and advances in medicine.

Here are some actual statistics in Afghanistan, before, During and after the Soviets.

The Soviets sent thousands of Afghans to Soviet Union for education, they sent specialists to help build infrastructure in the country, they built infrastructure, roads hospitals and powerplants they did more then you are wiling to admit.

Here is a not so long read about the positive things Soviets brought which most people never want to give them credit for:

I think it is wrong to entirely credit Pakistan, US and Saudis for the Mujahedeen movement when in fact there was a genuine resentment within the Afghan populace against the Soviet invasion and occupation of their country, particularly among the rural folk because there was a urban-rural divide and the secular/Atheist/Communist (whichever label one prefers) elites of the cities certainly exacerbated the division by trying to impose their "progressive" worldview on the rural folks.

They were elites because they were a minority within Afghanistan, and the occupying force preferred them in positions of power.

Also, when the British attempted to impose their will on Afghanistan three times they too suffered the same fate, there was no Pakistan US or Saudi in the 1800's to create artificial uprisings in Afghanistan at that time.

Afghanistan by its nature is not a suitable country to rule due to its mountainous terrain and this reflects in the nature of its people which is why historically no foreign power has been able to occupy that country and subdue its people, and in the few instances that it was a part of one empire or another the ruling authority did not interfere with the internal affairs of Afghans and left them to their own devices. For the most part Afghanistan was simply used as a natural barrier by opposing sides against their adversaries.

As regards the infrastructure like roads, highways, bridges etc., certainly Soviets built it, although these did not encompass every nook and cranny of Afghanistan, but the problem was that the great majority of Afghans didn't use motorised vehicles and did not have any use for such, because why go through the trouble of maintaining a vehicle that is restricted to paved roads when a camel, donkey or a horse is more versatile, abundantly available (compared to motorised transportation), less maintainence intensive and can do a better job in terms of being able to traverse different types of terrain, particularly mountainous and hilly landscape which would destroy the mechanical vehicles.

With regards to the birth rate and improvement in health standards, yes, certainly this is true as well, but this doesn't necessarily mean the people will be pro-Soviet.

For example, Africa's birth rate exploded during the era of European colonialism due to European medicine and farming techniques and its population is now projected to reach 4 billion people, yet in no other time have Africans hated and despised the Europeans more than they do now. South Africa is case in point, Zimbabwe is another example where the very white farmers who fed the Black population were murdered and expelled by African Communists, we are seeing the same today in South Africa.

All of my data can be verified here.

Justifying invasion, slaughter of a million people, expulsion of more than four million, in the name of a few miniskirts and making some apartments in Kabul---It can't get any worse than that.
People never accepted those reforms including the most touted land reforms. All of that was a charade---A prosperity bubble around Kabuli middle and upper middle class(bourgeoisie) when rest of the country lived in utter poverty.

Next time, Trump can invade my country, bomb it to stone age, kill a million, expel several million more, install a puppet regime---and then tell me, I don't have the right to resist his occupation forces or the puppet installed by him since his country has been giving aid to mine and has put women in miniskirts.

The same regime is bad when it puts your grand father in prison but good when it kills off a million Afghans.
@Desert Fox @Nilgiri

The British and other colonial powers also developed a lot of infrastructure in whichever place they colonized. Means people have no right to demand freedom?

The railways, roads, bridges, tunnels, irrigation canals , schools , most of them were built by British in India...That means Gandhi was a bad guy and British were good? And people had no right to demand British to leave?

I think it is wrong to entirely credit Pakistan, US and Saudis for the Mujahedeen movement when in fact there was a genuine resentment within the Afghan populace against the Soviet invasion and occupation of their country, particularly among the rural folk because there was a urban-rural divide and the secular/Atheist/Communist (whichever label one prefers) elites of the cities certainly exacerbated the division by trying to impose their "progressive" worldview on the rural folks.
It started in 1974. The divide was too wide.
For them, Angolans, Vietnamese, Cubans, South African blacks and others are paragons of humanity for standing up to Western imperialism---Fighting against Soviet imperialism however is a different story. Hypocrisy.

WASHINGTON, Sept 18 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump said on Tuesday the United States is considering a request from Poland for a permanent U.S. military presence in the fellow NATO country.

Poland has repeatedly requested a permanent U.S. military presence on its soil amid fears of Russian aggression, offering up to $2 billion in funding for such a base. U.S. soldiers are now present on its soil through NATO's back-to-back rotation.

Russia expressed concern in May over reports about Poland's request, saying NATO’s expansion towards Russia’s borders undermined stability in Europe.

"Poland is willing to make a very major contribution to the United States to come in and have a presence in Poland, and certainly it's something we'll discuss," Trump said at the White House before a meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda.

"We're looking at it very seriously, I know Poland likes the idea very much, and it's something that we are considering, yes," he said.

Poland joined NATO in 1999 along with Hungary and the Czech Republic, and since then other former communist states, including Baltic republics bordering Russia, have joined despite Moscow’s strong opposition.

Warsaw could offer up to $2 billion in funding for a U.S. military base, according to a Polish Defense Ministry proposal reported by Polish media. A government source in Poland confirmed to Reuters that such a proposal had been made.

Trump also said the United States was considering a visa waiver program for Poland.

Let's set things straight. You are sorely confused with what you even post and your link doesn't even have anything in it either--try copying and pasting specifically what you want to prove and then explain it in context.

When the Soviet Union came they trained doctors, provided medicine, vaccines, built hospitals and other infrastructure. The Soviets caused life expectancy to go up but it took time. The people alive today in their 60s and 70s likely benefited from the Soviets. NATO didn't come into Afghanistan until 2001 and by that time many people in Afghanistan were living well past what they were during the 1980s because the Soviets brought medicine, trained doctors and built hospitals. Again it would take decades for vaccines and medicine to push people well past the life expectancy at the time.

To add to the topic under the Under Soviet Union education also skyrocketed, I already provided links proving it. Subsequently educated parents will pass on their nowledge to their children and generations their after will benefit from literacy and knowledge. It's similar to the Soviets bringing medicine, building hospitals and training doctors. The benifts are emmediate but really begins to show years down the road when the doctor finally begin to practice their profession and later teach their skills to others. Literally and life expectancy is now higher then it has ever been in Afghanistan and it's not because of some fluke or coincidence.

Justifying invasion, slaughter of a million people, expulsion of more than four million, in the name of a few miniskirts and making some apartments in Kabul---It can't get any worse than that.

Stop changing the subject and stop trying to think you can guilt trip me. It's just petty. Your mini skirt rant always makes you look rather inept. Please do spare the crocodile tears and western propaganda. The Soviets never slaughtered millions. During Soviet times, the Soviets never destroyed or bombarded any major cities. In Syrian city's with millions of inhabitants the cities are rubble and less then 500,000 people have been killed. Syria is ravaged with thousands of suicide bombers, hundreds of thousands of jihadists killing everyone, chemical attacks and many countries bombing the country. Yet somehow the Soviets killed millions......Almost all the fighting the Soviets did was in mountainous areas which were sparsely inhabited. For Soviets to kill that many people they would have to nuke all the major cities, or fly thousands of sorties with heavy bombers. Neither happened. Instead the Soviets uses vulnerable and slow ground attack aircraft that did very little damage because they were never interested in causing mass destruction.

You will believe anything from the people that brought you WMDs, babies being thrown out of incubators and Osama bin Laden being a "freedom fighter"

People never accepted those reforms including the most touted land reforms. All of that was a charade---A prosperity bubble around Kabuli middle and upper middle class(bourgeoisie) when rest of the country lived in utter poverty.

Again the Soviets controlled only a small part of Afghanistan--mostly large cities. The rest of the country lived mostly under hardline islamists. I don't expect hardline islamists to welcome anything the Soviets brought nor do they welcome anything NATO brought.

It's no ones fault that many Afghans choose to live under Taliban and Sharia law. No matter how much anyone tries to help those people they will refuse and continue living like it's 500BC. A stubborn idiot will be a stubborn idiot no matter what.

Next time, Trump can invade my country, bomb it to stone age, kill a million, expel several million more, install a puppet regime---and then tell me, I don't have the right to resist his occupation forces or the puppet installed by him since his country has been giving aid to mine and has put women in miniskirts.

Again spare us with your miniskirt rants already, it's rather pathetic. I never even mentioned miniskirts but at least under Soviet control women didn't have to swear bedsheets in 100 degree temperatures.

I also don't see what Trump has to do with this or why you keep mentioning that propaganda about millions of Afghans being killed. I frankly don't care about your sentiments about the Soviets or you theoretically wanting to wage jihad agiinst the Soviets. The topic is about Soviets building infrastructure, training specialist and improving living standards and life expectancy--that's it yet somehow you keep trying to pivot the conversation and bring up propaganda and statistics that you don't understand.

Some people were and are still deluded to think that Afghan women (majority) could be put in miniskirts...Then they could call it progress.

You have women with miniskirt on your mind again.

The Soviets didn't care how Afghans dressed. There was a low intensity war in Afghanistan but the Soviets lifted many people out of the stone age Islamist ideology with education, technology and critical thinking. Very few women in the Soviet Union even wore miniskirt unless they were flight attendants or something of that nature but again you keep trying to pivot the conversation into an off topic rant to 'one up' me in order to try deflect the topic so you can win the debate but your deflecting has not worked.
