Do they really need Trump ?

Yes they do actually Obama was not as good for Israel's image as Trump is. Policies during Obama's time were always pro-Israel but he wasn't such a vocal supporter, which matters significantly as now Israel is making a push into the west bank flying under the radar. The $38 billion from Trump's administration will help too. Just look at Trump's tweets from last 2 days and count the mentions of Israel to completely irrelevant situations.

And in a week a tweet may change all this celebration.

What matters is the contacts between Def Secy and COAS; that is where the relationship is being repaired and built.

No meeting with Trump matters significantly look at the relationship between Trump and Kim Jong Un as an example. Trump single handedly turned US-NK relationship around all because of his personal interaction with Kim. If anything it's the tweets that don't matter.
