Shelf life of India missiles seam to be too low. Thats why a random missile picked from existing old stock failed. Solid fueled rockets can face certain deterioration in fuel grain due to mechanical jolts while transporting,such on TEL or due to chemical changes within. All these faults are ironed out during design phase of the missile. Seems like Indian designers missed out on certain important details.
Stored Nuclear warheads can also deteriorate over time specially the Plutonium which become porous due to Helium production. This deterioration in Plutonium component reduces Yield or at worse cause failure of the warhead detonation.
Just having the missiles in store or having ready to use warheads in store is not enough. It's a constant struggle to keep them in fully working order and at best efficiency. A TEL can fail to Launch the missile completely due to Hydraulic failure. So too many components of the Nuclear weapons system needs constant maintenance, fail safe and Backup plans.

These failures are much higher in air breathing jet engines without compressor stage,such as RAM / SCRAM jets.

Chill ....we report all success and failures. Its a mechanical system and a very normal occurrence. You should actually wonder tonight why your missile never fail. A country of your level of Industrialization and academic credentials....why your missiles always hist the bull's eye. Sit and think all the possible answers.

our mathematical models, lab tests and approach to design is much better. all small elements are independently tested to max envelope parameters before complete field test. hence probability of failure is significantly reduced.

Better scientists that eat beef and proteins is supplied to their body thus they are able to make better designs and missiles. Deficiency of proteins can effect your thinking. You need to eat the cow to make better missiles.
