With the ongoing hostilities between India and Pakistan , the treatment of POWs becomes important.
A small anecdote from a family friend who retired at a senior position from the army.
A sikh jat officer , he was taken prisoner by the chinese during the border conflict and spent 4 months as a POW.
His experience was that the officers were deliberately humiliated by the chinese in front of the jawans . Some type of pysch warfare.
The chinese were also heavily into indoctrination of the captured soldiers .
Any professionals with their experiences first or 2nd hand on this site as POWs ?
We would all like to think that our soldiers behave humanly but what are the facts on the ground ?

I doubt on this forum.

But there are information on how POWs are supposed to be treated...

The bottom line is this...

You can interrogate a POW, but torture is out, obviously. Then the question of what constitute 'torture' comes into play but that is for another debate.

Another gray area is indoctrination. You can try to convince the prisoners of the righteousness of your cause and that their country is in the wrong, but that could qualify as indoctrination and even mental torture.

This is a topic that is ripe for interpretations.

Unfortunately we just give our Indian PoWs some biryani and juice then send them back :(
