Total Tally of Taliban's New Arsenal!

.
Why would we want a helicopter, that costs more to operate and maintain than a Mi-17 and carry less payload than one?
Better Ballistic protection & reliability. Costs less to maintain than AW149's.

Launching airstrikes now, would be against the ceasefire. If US does break it, Taliban is likely to retaliate and not cooperate in the future.
The obvious maneuver would certainly create issues, so a proxy would be used, and total denial would be exercised.

Humvees are some of the worst vehicles when it comes to IEDs. They're literally flat from the bottom and "thin skinned", even the up-armoured ones.
Furthermore, unreliable compared to pickups and maintenance demanding. They won't run more than 3 months after support stops, Talibs will have to cannibalise their fleet. Or source Chinese or Iranian parts.
Humvees on the Eastern front is a different game altogether.

As someone whos versed in this the numbers are not exaggeration but rather an understatement meaning it is technically under-reported because the US were really arming ANA and ANP to the teeth and because they were losing alot of equipment because it was an active war for the past 20 years hence the US had alot of reserve stockpiles and imo half of the Humvees are brand new and never used humvees that IEA took from the stockpiles after the conquest..

The Assualts rifles are also under-reported there is still another 100k under-reported and the picks up are also under-reported slightly and could reach 50k pick ups give or take..

IEA hit big on the reserve stockpile due to this being a continous war having a large reserve stockpile made sense for the US logistically..

Majority of the assault rifles were taken from the reserve stockpile including the humvees and in fact majority of the haul around 60% comes from the reserve stockpiles..

Now looking back at the war it must have been finanicially nightmare for the US constantly resupplying the ANA and ANP with arms over the years and putting alot of money into the ANA

Total of $ 83 billion was spent on creating, training and arming the ANA, roughly $ 4.8 billion per year. Since these funds were given by the American tax payers, these numbers are audited. Take at least ONE yearly audit (in reality there are multiple audits). Procurement, cost, quantities, destination is all tracked and accounted for. No one can just lie about the longest US military operation in history. This wasn't a small black ops!

The number provided by the Pentagon can't be wrong. I called certain things "exaggeration" as to me, majority of that equipment would've been brought home. But if it was left for ANA as stockpiles, than that's the truth. I guess these stockpiles did create and well equipped a new army overnight.

.
Even if we get 2000 Humvees that would be enough for Baluchistan and Fata Hot zones.
Usless..no IED protection only small arm

We dont need humvees
Pakistan wouldnt want to get any of these items unless USA is okay with it.
You dont want a target on your back/irritate uncle sam more

But alot of these equipment were dismantled and sold as scrap in afghanistan or parts in black market years ago

Maxpro, c130, cessna are the ones that are of any use and may not create squint eyes

Humvees do handle IEDs AT ALL. They'd be nothing different than an armored hilux which is useless against an IED as well.

Buying these goodies from Taliban means needing to maintain them which we can't.

Reason:

1: A lot of cost for maintenance.
2: US won't sell spares and such vehicles require extensive maintenance.
3: Turkey won't help us maintain them. They don't wanna get sanctioned for such a petty thing.

So guys, stop dreaming. It will be useless for Taliban too if US doesn't supply them with parts and service support. China is their option but yet again, it depends if China can produce parts fo MaxxPro or Humvees.

Very sensible post. Just like the Turkey, the Chinese won't start a manufacturing line just to support Taliban's 170 Maxpros. I can assure you of that. So many of these weapon systems will work until they start breaking down and then will be sold as scrap metal. The US in no way will work with Taliban to further arm or strengthen them (unless some weird deal to fight ISIS takes place) there have been articles since yesterday that Taliban uncomfortably have become the first line of defense now against ISIS due to the total collapse of the Afghan army. So who knows. Trump administration tried to speak to Taliban so in love and war, all is allowed. May be Biden administration will find common ground with the Talibans against terrorists from ISIS, that's a true and present danger to the world.

The Taliban will need all this equipment just as a starting point for a new Afghan military. People are talking about JF-17s, tanks, etc, are being absurd. Taliban don't have the funds for that.

Plus, a police force needs to be established, as well. \

As for maintenance and part supply, necessity makes people do creative things.

As for the rotary and fixed wing aircraft, the Taliban should offer former ANA pilots amnesty and position to fly these aircraft.

ANA pilot recently crashes the plane in Tajikistan, Only 4 US provided Tucano, either destroyed or disabled or no parts . But, all ANA pilots have run away from a country already.

Ofcourse they can! As I see it these are their options as of now, do add what you deem fit.

1) Let Taliban use them, if support is not provided they might turn to China for support, or worse well it to them for scrap.

2) Hand them over to Pakistan, and provide support via Turkey (which wont happen), or directly via Sikorsky.

3) Destroy them while they are still on the ground, via air strikes.

4) Buy them from the Taliban.

5) ISKP attack Taliban air base, suicide bomber’s targets Taliban blackhawks, usa condemns attack and says it will provide intelligence with Taliban on iskp and work with them

.
The majority of functional air support wings are already out of Afghanistan.

I mean we don't operate AW-149s, as for 139s they serve an entirely different purpose. Plus training crews for an entirely different platform would be too much.
The obvious maneuver would certainly create issues, so a proxy would be used, and total denial would be exercised.
That really won't be needed, unless they fall into hands of Iran, which AFAIK is the only thing US is probably worried about. They'll eventually stop working, give it half a year. American equipment, as good as it is, needs to be maintained properly.

Not all but many have defected to IEA.. About half of the IEA airforce is operational now because they have defected pilots

They have police forces of their own plus a huge portion that defected to them
