Which countries are now spending most on defence? - Telegraph

I'm not certain these are final, in fact they are probably not.

Damn Russia is really increasing, I heard 44% over three years. Putin means business.

I would have liked China to spend a little bit more, but it is what it is.

US cutting spending interesting.

I thought Japan increased by a percent, but maybe I am wrong.

India not spending what I thought you be spending, with all those big buys, where does the money come from. Perhaps another budget.

With the news Britain stays in fourth position for its annual defence budget, which countries are now out-spending us?

Since India buys foreign weapons Nominal value is more fitting.

This is utterly pathetic by our leaders.

We spend far too little on military.

We need to spend 5% of GDP on military.

We need military hawks in power otherwise we will weaken as a military power.

Military spending should be given first priority.

I thought U.S was spending like 600 billion or something? China already over 100 billion...

India's maximum import will be less than £ 4 billion... Then also India will be third...

The entire Indian military is import dependent. Even your so called 'indigenous' weapons are built using imported components and assembled using foreign experts in India.

your govt makes the policies according to the requirement which they think's is necessary....you must accept it as the govt. always knows better where to spend and how much to spend.

Nope.....our navy is mostly using indigenous warships and our army is also opting that way....though i will agree with you about some components are imported due to the time which they takes to be developed indigenously.

600 billion is in USD term while here 350 billion is in GBP.

Our government is full of anti-military liberals that would rather allow the white man to rule over China.

CPC doesn't have enough pro-military people in there.

We need people that cares about China's military.

PLA doesn't have enough funds. Corrupt CPC is ruining our military.

If you include the components using in indian arms..Then also our import will be less than £ 4 billion (because About 75 percent of India's weapons purchases came from imports).........

Check SIPRI's datas...
In 2007-2011 arms import
India purchased some $12.7 billion in arms, 80 percent of that from Russia, during 2007-2011, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). China’s arms purchases during that time were $6.3 billion, 78 percent of which came from Russia. That is 2007-2011 purchase= only £ 7.8 billion.... Incude the cost of components in 25 percent Indian arms= max £ 10 billion in 5 years...
