A Muslim teenager who had been banned from school for wearing an Islamic face veil said that she was too ‘upset, hurt and angry’ to go back, despite the support of cover a thousand of her fellow students.

The 16 year old, who was due to start her A level exams this year, was told by the prestigious Camden School for Girls that her decision to wear the Islamic veil went against the schools’ dress code, and that staff would not be allowed to teach her unless she removed it.

Speaking to the London Evening Standard, the girl said that the face veil should not be seen as “un-British”.

“I was born in Britain. I know perfect English, I enjoy doing the normal, typical things like drinking tea and eating biscuits. Britain claims to be multicultural, meaning they accept different kinds of people.”

“To be honest a lot of people at the school wear inappropriate clothing — inappropriate as in very provocative and revealing clothing like extremely short shorts — so it didn’t make sense that they were refusing me to wear the niqab” she said.

The girl will continue her studies at a different sixth form college, which is located further away from her home.

“I’ve been going to Camden for five years yet they were so dismissive but a school that I’d never even heard of were so ready to welcome me. There are even other students who wear the niqab” she said.

Camden School for Girls was named as one of the top 100 in the country by schools minister David Laws last year, and has a number of prominent alumni.

I cannot believe that people with mentality of medieval age exist who believe that faces should be covered etc.. I am saying this irrespective of faith.

It is there choice. Whether we think it is right or wrong.

it is the school's choice to kick such people out...if it was hijab..i would support the girl pov...but sorry no full face veil...it is medieval and barbaric practice...and if someone wants to wear such a thing...then they should be ready for consequence..

School isn't wrong either as veil breaks the dress code. What is wrong is persecution because of veil.

What are the exact rules for the dress code for the students at that school? Could it be that teachers were finding it difficult to interact with a student in full hijab?

Edit:

APPEARANCE POLICY
Students at the school may wear what
they wish subject to any requirements
that might be reasonably made by the
school in individual cases in the interests
of teaching and learning (including
physical education), health and safety.
Inappropriate dress which offends public
decency or which does not allow teacher
student interactions will be challenged.

She has to follow the school rules for appearance, which prohibit any type of dress "which does not allow teacher student interactions".

Come on yaar, dont turn blind eye towards what restrictions and criticism they are making to destroy all Muslim values

At least Britain does not have Muttawa a la Saudis who obligate the following:

Dress code in Saudi Arabia
Women should observe the strict Saudi dress code and wear conservative and loose-fitting clothes, including a full-length cloak (abaya) and a keep a scarf with them in case they are asked to cover their head by the Hai‟a, commonly known as Muttawa (Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice/Religious Police). Men should not wear shorts in public or go without a shirt. Visitors should always seek guidance concerning acceptable clothing.

You do not get to put your idiotic labels in Western societies, save it for Pakistan.
She puts it on her face.. "Her face".
Which happens to be her property in Pakistan and in USA.
Would you like someone to tell you to shave your beard or not to?

Their school, their rules. Don't like the rules? Go elsewhere. Simple.
Well likewise if Ahmadis are banned in Pakistan..they have problem and you have problem..
Nobody says 'Their country their rules".
Stop being two faced as you are.
