When the disease shows its early symptoms, nipping the disease on the bud at the initial stages is considered very healthy for the patient. But if the disease is allowed to fester until it becomes very harmful in later stages, the only solution for it is to operate it in the operation theatre and if the patient is lucky, he recovers fully with few minor side effects, if the water has risen above the head and the infection has gotten out of control, the only way to survive is to cut of the rotten body part to survive it. The operation Zarb e Asb gives out the very picture described. The failure of the state to identify the disease and treat it with seriousness has caused Pakistan a lot, both financially and loss of many lives. As it is said you can’t treat cancer with pain killer, you can’t treat the TTP terror menace through peace negotiations. At this stage the army and the government has decided that if the country needs to heel from the TTP menace once and for all times sake so that this country sees long lasting peace and stability and prosperity, it needs to be properly operated. The situation in Pakistan has literally become like a tumour patient who used to think that taking pain killers would reduce the pain until the pain became unbearable and he finally decided to go to doctor and have proper medical tests and diagnoses. doctor tells him that the illness causing him pain has gone beyond the initial stages and that to save him, he needs a proper treatment, and that a physical surgery in the operation theatre will get him rid of the disease causing misery to him. All this along, the Pakistani state thought that Panadol of peace talks will get rid of the Taliban terrorism. They tried to be ignorant about the illness they were dealing with and treated it like a small problem. In the meantime, constant suicide blasts, killings of civilians took a toll on this nation. This country saw painful sleepless nights of an undiagnosed patient. If the disease had been initially nipped in the bud when Tehreek Nifaz suSi Muhammadi shariat had first appeared, the country had not suffered so much through sacrifices of many lives. The then the People’s Party (PPP) government decided to hold peace talks which was clearly a bad move. The TNSM festered until the disease reached Islamabad in the form of red mosque from there the disease spread all over the country including the economic hub of the country, Karachi.

As the time went by we saw law and order of Pakistan becoming worsening day by day, our economy suffered a great deal, Investors fled, even the international sporting team refused to tour us, Death toll increased and we suffered loss of many lives. The delay in operation caused a lot of harm to Pakistan. Yet it is surprising that many political parties still think that the cancer should be treated with pain killer as it continues to take toll on us. They fear this TTP surgery may prove to be deadly and fatal. Those parties who think that the tumour of TTP should still be treated with pain killers are just trying to be ignorant of the reality and immensity of threat we are facing today. It is true that any operation contains a risk factor that if not operated correctly, it may lead to fatal disaster, but if the patient has a good experienced doctor who can be trusted, there is no reason to be scared. Doctor knows what’s best for the patient. Pakistani army is recognised as one of the most professional armies in the world and our security agencies are top ranked, highly professional institutions. In the presence of Pakistan military, Pakistanis should have complete trust that we are in the hands of qualified professionals who they know their jobs well and since they have ensured us that they can operate it successful. We need to back them and give our confidence to them. Those political parties who don’t trust our professional institutions and fear black lash should stop demoralising our army, it’s a high time to stand together, show our full faith and confidence in our military and support them. If doctor gets bothered too much with question of ifs and buts he will certainly lose his concentration and may mess it up. The doctor needs full confidence. The doctor is Pakistan army, Pakistan is the patient who is going to the operation theatre, TTP is the tumor which needs extraction. If the operation is successful, no more sleepless nights for the patient, no more miserable restless days for Pakistan, with few side effects, our country will be as healthy in no time.
