. . . .
I used to have zero sympathy for the Rohingya originally. Based on what I had read about them and the by now normal of a Muslim populace unable to live in peace with the larger non Muslim one in a non Muslim dominant country. Seen of course against the backdrop of what we know about the converse fate of non Muslims in Muslim dominant countries.

That lack of empathy and sympathy reduced further from zero to deep into the negative when I read that the Rohingya were not only targeting the Buddhist Burmese, but they were actually indulging in large scale arson, rape and killing of the much smaller Hindu populace in Myanmar. A veritable genocide in its own right. As attested to by many Hindu survivors from there.

Cheers, Doc

You have been misled by Hindutvabadi propaganda. There may have been one or two distinct unrelated cases of violence like this but nothing systematic like what happens with RSS, Shivsena etc.

The Burmese have been expelling Hindus since the 1930's as much as they have been expelling Muslims. They DON'T CARE what religion Indians are as much as getting rid of them from Burma. To them there are only Burmese (Bamar, Rakhine etc.) and non-Burmese.

THEY HAVE NO SPECIAL LOVE FOR HINDUS.

.
Rofl what stake does China have in Rohingya return? How will they benefit? What is their stakei n Bangladesh? Your Non-Muslim PM Hasina scrapped Sonadia port acquisition and gave a nearby area to Japan for development. The countries you depend on India, Japan, USA what are they doing about Rohingya? Rofl annexation, Bangladesh can't remove Mynamar plane from its airspace and you again start stupid boasting like your Bangladesh cricket team. Myanmar knows you are pathetic and can't even stand with air power, the whole world knows it, your armed forces inventory is lowest in the region compared to other countries minus Maldives.

If you had a govt. who oversaw Myanmar in previous years this situation would've never come to pass, You were silent then you are inept now.

Good job and bang on the button. Bangladesh is the most worthless weak "country" in existence. They set it up with a 3 millioner hoax cryfest complex.

Just watch the fun. I kid you not, these ugly ingrates were saying Burma would already be split into pieces by now and Arakan occupied by BD lol. In the end what happens is they buy rice from Burma, forced to keep their illegals permanently, and given the finger by both China and India on the issue and with Pakistan supplying JF-17 to myanmar (whereas all the 1000 post long threads about BD fighter jet program came to big ugly zero...just like their IQ lol).

Understand where their tears come from, it comes from the reality being 180 degrees from their fantasies (just like how they project 3 million for their existence and that BD women didn't enjoy company with Pak and Indian soldiers lol).

LOL no they haven't....1+ million Bangladesh british raj (and also post raj 20th century illegals) arrivals sent back to Bangladesh?...comparing to few thousands of Burmese Indians = same rate? I already posted the Yangon Hindu community, even in Mandalay and other places. The British raj arrivals were sent back to India, ok.....same thing happened in Sri Lanka. But those that were much longer presence now have Burmese citizenship. Can youtube it easily. @Aung Zaya @Gibbs

Rohingya (who were never Burmese citizens unlike your stupid crybaby claim earlier) are 99% majority late arrivals and also decided to instigate wage a long term war against Burma (and turn it religious too against their own like others have brought up). They get the end result now....

@Aung Zaya

Resembles like a concentration camp.

Yeah like Pakistan ought to do for its illegal Afghan migrants too.....before deporting them.

I wasn't talking about the Burmese Bilal. One wing of my family were teak merchants in Burma pre Independence, before moving to Aden.

I was talking about the Rohingya butchering Hindus.

Like another poster mentioned above, these poor low class Hindus are being paid by Burmese to invent stories of ARSA (Rohingya) repression, torture and massacres. It's been proven multiple times and that too by international NGO's. ARSA had no beef with Hindus. Why should they? The only issue ARSA had was with the Tatmadaw and their various agents.

Poor Hindu people see no other recourse - than to recite convenient stories and sidle up to the Burmese in order to stay in Burma in 'Damaat comfort' instead of being refugees in Bangladesh. What would you do ?

Immediately after arriving in Bangladesh, the Hindu refugees told local journalists that their loved ones had been killed by the Myanmar security forces and armed local Rakhine Buddhist men.

Changing Stories

But many of the Hindu refugees later changed their story.

Now, none of the Hindu refugees is saying that the Myanmar soldiers or locals killed any Hindus. Some of the Hindu refugees are saying that they could not identify the killers because they were masked, while others are saying Rohingya militants killed their relatives and Hindu neighbors.

Surprised Reporters

Some journalists who met Rakhine’s Hindu survivors as soon as they arrived Bangladesh said they were surprised the way they changed their story over the weeks.

Nurul Islam, Cox’s Bazar correspondent of Dhaka-based newspaper New Age, said he interviewed Anika Dhar on August 28 when she said to him that Myanmar soldiers had killed her husband and seven other relatives.

“Some other journalists too heard the same story from Dhar in the last week of August. But, when I met her in Cox’s Bazar again around the middle of September, she said that she could not identify the killers of her husband and other relatives because they all wore masks,” he said.

Dhar was among a group of eight Hindu women who were later returned to Myanmar in a secret military operation. All eight women told the Myanmar media in October that Rohingya militants killed their relatives and Hindu neighbors.

“I was stunned when I found that Dhar had changed her story for the second time and blamed the Rohingya militants for the killings. The identity of the killers of the Hindus in Myanmar remains a mystery,” Islam said.

Allegations

Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh said the Hindu survivors are telling lies.

Monir Ahmed, a Rohingya neighbour of Dhar said that when the Myanmar soldiers and Rakhine militia members attacked the Rohingya and Hindus in his village of Fakirabazar on August 27, he managed to slip out.

“Myanmar military, Border Guard Police and the Rakhine men killed 30 Rohingya Muslims and 40 Hindus in that attack. Of course the Hindus were not killed by Rohingya (militants). If the Rohingya militants killed them those Hindu survivors would have never fled to Bangladesh along with us,” he said.

Rohingya refugee Maung Theing Hlaing said the Hindu refugees are telling lies and putting the blame on the Rohingya militants “simply to please the Myanmar government.”

“If the Hindus do not blame the Rohingyas for the killings, they will not be able return to Myanmar. They know if they can please Myanmar government by branding the Rohingyas as the killers they can even occupy the Rohingya-owned lands in Rakhine and live there,” he said.

It is highly likely that Hindus get swept up in this.

They are the same ethnicity.

It's equally likely that if the get displaced and move to Bangladesh, they will not be saying that the Rohingya butchered them.

Would you?

What Reuters unearthed isn't surprising given the huge popularity of Facebook in Myanmar. This evidence does go a long way in a hermit nation like Myanmar with virtually no freedom of press.

sure.it's proven that moneky cant think. that's why u believe that the truth can be found in FB.

I see the Reuters investigation hit a raw nerve.

Doesn't help your case. The people are clearly behind fences in an open prison. The reporters can only take pictures.

Do you still have doubt? Myanmar government even used hindus to create fake images to show it was Rohingyas who burned their own houses and did that to blame Myanmar Government. Why do you think the remaining hindus who made up stories ARSA killed hindus will be different when they were offered land, house and job? After all they are getting far better life than living in refugee camp.

Burmese govt fake images to frame Rohingya for violence

Photos showing a group of men and women setting light to a house in Burma have been circulating online since September 6. According to the authorities, they show how the Rohingya, a persecuted Muslim minority in the country, are deliberately setting fire to their own houses to receive international sympathy. However, the Burmese government posed the photos itself as part of an anti-Muslim propaganda campaign.

Activists for the Rohingya and Jonathan Head, a correspondent for the BBC, revealed that the photos are not quite what they seem. Head was part of a group of local and foreign journalists that were invited on a government-organised trip to Maungdaw, a town in Buddhist-majority Rakhine state in the west of the country. Government officials distributed these photos to the journalists, saying that they showed the Rohingya burning their own homes in order to frame the Burmese government. But the photos were posed, as was soon discovered by Head and other journalists.

One of the photos showing the actors pretending to be Rohingya torching a house.
These photos were also posted on the Facebook group Rohingya Community, which posts news about the situation for Rohingya in the country. They wrote a post explaining why the photos were fake [we have edited it for clarity].

Note the white caps the men actors are wearing. Those caps are totally new. Rohingya people aren’t wearing caps in these moments of life or death. And even if they wore Islamic caps, they wouldn’t be as clean and shiny as in those photos.

The women in the photos tried to resemble real Rohingya women by wearing hijab. But Rohingya women never wear hijab that way at all. It is very clear that they do not even know how to wear a piece of cloth on their heads.

The men in the photos are hiding their faces under masks [bandanas].

None of them are facing the camera to hide their real faces.

Most of all: why on earth would someone be so foolish as to document his crime by letting a cameraman take shots from all angles?

The truth: This was the house of a real Rohingya family. Most probably some of the family members were killed and others managed to flee. Later these actors (Buddhists) came to change the scenario of the reality.

Photo showing a woman posing as a Rohingya and torching a house.

“The women are wearing tablecloths on their heads”
In a Facebook post and an article, Head confirms this analysis, and picks up on other details that serve to further indict the Burmese government.

One of the women who appears in the photos torching a home is wearing a distinctive bright orange top, a grey and purple longyi, and a white lacy headscarf. Photos show that this same woman, minus the headscarf, spoke to the journalists at a school in Maungdaw that was serving as a shelter for displaced Hindu families. She told the journalists about Muslim abuse against Hindus.

This photo collage shows that one of the women posing as Rohingya to burn down the house was the same Hindu woman who later on spoke vehemently against Muslims in a tirade to journalists.
Amongst other actors, she was used by the government to pose as a Muslim militant torching houses, and also to speak persuasively to a troupe of journalists about Muslim-perpetrated violence.

Two of the photos sent to us by an Observer.
In a Facebook post that has been shared 2,400 times, Head wrote: “I realise now that among Hindus arranged by the government to be filmed and interviewed on Sept 6 in Maungdaw were two people who dressed up as Muslims for the fake photos given to us there." He said that the “acting” in the photos was “unconvincing”, and “the women are wearing tablecloths on their heads”.

The Rohingya have been accused of attacking the Buddhist and Hindu populations in the country, as well as security forces. While these photos were clearly posed and prove that it was not in fact Rohingya who were burning down their own houses on this occasion, this does not mean that it is always the case.

Another photo showing the women "with tablecloths on their heads", setting light to the house.
According to the Burmese government, the violent crackdown in the country is in response to attacks by militants from the rebel group Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA). Authorities also deny that the military has targeted Rohingya civilians. More than 300,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled across the border to Bangladesh since August 25.

In an address to the UN Human Rights Council on September 11, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein called the military operation by the Burmese government a “textbook example of ethnic cleansing”
